Publisher's summary

The 12th book in the best-selling Chronicles of St Mary's series. If you love Jasper Fforde, Ben Aaronovitch or Doctor Who, you won't be able to resist Jodi Taylor.

'It's time, Max.'

And so, a whole new chapter opens up.

It's long been known that if a thing can go wrong, it will. With knobs on, usually. Disasters start to pile up. A new colleague with no respect for the past and a great deal to prove. Historians lost in time. And - worst of all - Rosie Lee on her very first jump. Then there's the small matter of Max's dishonourable discharge.

From Tudor England to the Tower of Babel - it's all going horribly wrong.

Jobless and homeless, Max receives an offer she can't refuse. Another time, another place. A refuge, perhaps.

She's got that wrong, too.

Another winner!

Honestly surprised to see negative reviews, and one sounded like perhaps they had not listened to the whole book.
Here's my review... I tried to make it last, but it was just too good, and too interesting, to put down!

I love that this book includes many of my favorite characters/character relationships, great history, drama and suspense, but also introduces some new characters, and what sounds like some lead ins to some new story lines....which is always good because I want the Chronicles of St Mary's series to go on forever! :-).

As with all of the books in the series, I was completely engaged with the story line with all of it's twists and turns, and the wonderful characters, each with their distinct personalities. Zara Ramm is, as always, an incredibly talented narrator.

Another excellent entry in the St Mary's series

In the last book I was concerned that it seemed like the author was wrapping things up and I was concerned that she might be wanting to move on to new stories after ending this one. Nope. I was way off base. She is only getting warmed up.

Every book in this series has me wondering what torturous perils the author can put our hero, Max through. This volume was no exception. Amazingly detailed subplots regarding an Elizabethan mysterious death, to intrigue and danger at the tower of babel. Old friends come and go throughout the story, although some are changed forever. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Highest recommendations. I strongly suggest reading the whole series from the start to get the full effect and enjoyment from the book.

Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm saved my life

Ok Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm saved my life might be an exaggeration, but thank goodness Jodi decided to go into writing and Zara to narrate books. I love these books, I loved this latest book. I listen to the series to unwind before bed, and it’s perfect. The not so perfect female protagonist is very relatable, yet her life so unattainable I need to live vicariously through the stories. Zara Ramm really makes it too, I love her voice. The audiobooks without Zara are not the same. Highly recommend! The adventure continues!

My least favorite book

I like this series because of the relationships between all the characters, this book is missing that. It just seemed to gloss over a big death and a wedding. Performance was great.

Fun romp

Another great installment to the Chronicles of St. Mary's by Jodi Taylor. Jodi Taylor brings back Maxwell and the gang for another romp through history. Some surprises and some changes, so stay on your toes. My one complaint, they are over too fast. Zara Ramm does another outstanding job in the narration. I am going to be very sad when this series comes to an end. Please keep writing Ms Taylor.

Utter rubbish!

Sloppy, inconsistent, and does a major disservice to the characters we've grown to love.

Jodi does it again!

There's trouble at St. Mary's. (When isn't there!) So many twists and tears, old friends and new characters. Fasten your seatbelt and let the perfect narration of Zara Ramm take you for a bumpy ride.
