Angels is not guided by traditions, stories, speculations, or myths about angels. Heiser's study is grounded in the terms the Bible itself uses to describe members of God's heavenly host; he examines the terms in their biblical context while drawing on insights from the wider context of the ancient Near Eastern world.

The Bible's view on heavenly beings begins with Old Testament terms but then moves into literature from the Second Temple period? Jewish writings from around the fifth century BC to the first century AD. This literature from the time between the Old Testament and the New Testament influenced the New Testament writers in significant ways. With that important background established, the book focuses on what the New Testament tells us about God's holy ones. Finally, the book reflects on common misconceptions about angels and addresses why the topic is still important and relevant for Christians today.

Great information, aweful narration.

Dr. Heiser book is packed full of great information about the (good) heavenly beings most commonly known as Angels. He goes to great deeps in his research to present facts, disprove misconceptions, and discuss therories of what might be. However the narrator's performance was at best bland, and at some points (almost) painfully distracting.

I have listened to many of this author's stories and they have increased my vocabulary ten-fold!

Dr. Heiser had a wonderful gift of being able to share his knowledge with others through multi-media. He had an amazing gift. Thankful I was able to listen to this book.

Great book Dr. Heiser is an incredible author

All the references mentioned in this book are accurate. I have checked them I love Dr. Hauser’s writing is very thorough. The only problem with the audio version is Gordon Greenhill mispronounces many words as he does in all the other books that Dr. Heiser has written, but I recommend this book to anyone.

Angels is more confusing than the previous book.

Angels is thorough and concise just the the book preceding it. I incorrectly thought that having the framework of the previous two books in the series under my belt, that Angels would have less surprises. I was wrong. No one that I know about is as humbling on your understanding of the Bible than Michael S. Heiser. Please read this series.
