This was new to me War 1812

I learned about the War of 1812 in school, vaguely. This was fascinating information! I listened to it in 2 Days, unusual for me:) Brian’s reading of it was great, full of expression & enthusiasm. I would like my grandchildren to read this book in a few years. Actually, I think every American should read it. It reminded us how Americans all worked together for this magnificent nation called The United States of America. Certainly, still learning & growing, but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! Most of the world would like to live here, too. We are not forced to live here, but blessed to do so.

What a difference a real reader would make!!

Yes I read all the reviews that said the reader was not very good but I still bought the book because of my interest in the subject. Although he's the author and obviously knows his stuff, I cannot tell you how much he detracts from the story. Per the suggestion of other readers I slowed down the audio speed and still had to re-listen to many sections. His voice is just not suited for this - what a shame! I absolutely loved the story but I can't tell you how many times I was ready to quit just because I couldn't take his reading. Audible and the author would do well to have this rerecorded by someone much better suited to read.

A lot of detailed information regarding the War

Very good book! Listened to the whole book non-stop. Great crecendo! The War of 1812 wasn't a tie afterall.

Probably a great read

The story was pretty thrilling and the whole family enjoyed it, BUT Brian Kilmead’s narration skills are terrible. He ends every sentence as if it were a question, often separates connected thoughts, and pauses in the middle of a phrase oddly. Had it been narrated with proper inflection, we would have given the book five stars.

Kilmeade should not narrate

Interesting story, love kilmeades books but he shouldn’t narrate them - talks to fast, misses the art of pausing for emphasis, several mispronunciations that became irritating . Probably a better read

Brian Kilmeade - Opportunist

I ordered this book on impulse because I love history. Only after ordering did I realize that the author is mimicking Bill O’Reilly’s make a quick buck style - hire a ghost writer, hammer out a shallow history book for high school level readers and promote it on the air. No in-depth research. No insight.
A waste of money. Fox News is leading the league in dumbing down history.
Somebody should author a book exposing this “get rich quick” technique. The title? “Killing History.”

I can't believe the War of 1812 was so pivotal.

The author does a great job in showing the importance of the Battle and the war. It was great to see Jackson shown in a positive light. I hope I'm as good of a leader as he was in this book.

My library has ~1,000+ titles over 14 years.....

I have purchased a wide range of subjects and authors. This title is terrific even though I have others that I enjoyed more.
Many Amazon product reviews since 2000 but I don't usually write reviews on Audible because of subjectivity.
This is my first review rule exception as IMO the information in Andrew Jackson .... is of critical importance for anyone interested in American history; and even for those who think that such information is not of interest or importance.
IMO, this is a must listen to Audible title.
