Tabitha and Wolf have been invited to historic Salisbury for a scholarly lecture celebrating their recent discovery at Pembroke Castle. However, the occasion takes a dark turn when the lecturer is found dead beneath the towering ruins of Old Sarum.

As the couple begins to investigate, they are drawn into a labyrinth of ancient Druidic rites, shadowy Church intrigues, and secrets buried beneath the chalky plains. An excavation near Stonehenge uncovers more than bones, awakening old rivalries and new dangers.

In a landscape where myth and history intertwine, Tabitha and Wolf must navigate shifting allegiances and long-buried truths. As tensions rise and the past casts long shadows over the present, they race to uncover the killer before another body is claimed by secrets that are best left buried.

This was the Worst story in the series. Choppy, no real mystery, short, abrupt ending, characters behaved in unlikely and unbelievable ways.

Worst story in the series

I’ve listened to the entire series, and this installment was an absolute disappointment. It was painful to get through, and I didn’t even bother finishing it — I fell asleep near the end and had zero desire to go back. That alone says everything.

The storyline was a mess. It felt lazy, dragged out, and completely lacking the depth and tension that made the earlier books worth listening to.

Worst of all, the characters didn’t even resemble themselves. After investing in them for an entire series, hearing them act out of character was frustrating and almost insulting as a listener.

And Tabatha? Nearly unbearable. She came across as whiny, immature, and exhausting — not complex or layered, just irritating.

This one completely missed the mark!
