Celebrated Seattle restaurateur Callie James is more than a little thrown when her ex-husband, French investigative reporter Daniel Odile-Grand, shows up after 14 years asking for her help. Even more disturbing: As she throws him out, Daniel is deliberately hit by a car, hurled through the front window of her restaurant - broken, bloody, and unconscious. April 1865. Richmond, Virginia. Two trains. One treasure. And a question worth millions. As the US Civil War was drawing to a close, and Grant was about to take Richmond, two trains left the city in the dark of night. One carried Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his cabinet. The other carried the Confederate Treasury guarded by a young midshipman from the CSA Navy. A few weeks later, Davis was captured by Federal troops near Irwinville, Georgia, and the treasure...was gone. People have been speculating on what happened to the Confederate treasure for decades.

The Ramayana, one of the world's greatest epics, is also a tragic love story. In this brilliant retelling, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni places Sita at the center of the novel: This is Sita's version. The Forest of Enchantments is also a very human story of some of the other women in the epic, often misunderstood and relegated to the margins: Kaikeyi, Surpanakha, Mandodari.

Publisher's Summary
“If she prefers to lie in a tomb instead of my bed, I cannot stop her,” the stern patrician Leo declared, while his wife Amora observed, “In Leo’s house, I was a prisoner of hate, anger, and self-pity. Now, in this dungeon, my soul is free to feel love and joy.”
We explore the path to redemption, forgiveness, and healing as we witness the characters in Grant Hallstrom’s novel Amora struggle with their pains of loss and betrayal, the burden of guilt, and the drive for revenge.
This engaging historic epic is based on the true story of the noblewoman who inspired Justin Martyr’s petition to the Roman Senate, and is at once a sweeping action-adventure and a moving examination of spirituality and faith.
After betraying his Christian wife and her slave to the authorities, a wealthy patrician finds his life turned upside down while the slave’s lover seeks revenge. This fascinating listen will impact its listeners for a long time, just as Amora’s conversion and tragic death affects the characters in this novel.
