A Primarchs Audiobook
Who better to relate the tale of Alpharius than the primarch himself? As he tells of his deeds, bear one thing in mind: nothing can be trusted when it comes from serpent's mouth.
Listen to it because:
I am Alpharius...and so are you.
The story:
Legends abound of the glorious - or infamous - deeds of the emperor's sons. Yet almost nothing is known of Alpharius, the most mysterious of them all, for the lord of the Alpha Legion is unparalleled in the art of obfuscation. Such are his gifts of secrecy and deceit that even his rediscovery has remained an enigma - until now. But when the tale comes from the serpent’s mouth, where do the lies end and the truth begin?
Written by Mike Brooks. Narrated by Jonathan Keeble.

Great start

Therefore, it is only fitting that the story of Alpharius, and the finding of his twin Omegon, be told by himself … for who can chronicle what there are no records of?
There are two other predominant reasons I like about this book above almost all.
• Firstly, it is one of the only that is neither sycophantic nor does it read like the author pillaged an engineering textbook to bulk up pages with technical jargon. I do not need to be constantly reminded about the “super human” nature of the Primarchs. Nor do I need descriptions of the mechanics of their armor every time they walk somewhere. After some 53+ books, I think any 40K fan knows this stuff. Sometimes I think the writers get paid by the word.
• The second reason I like this book is because it is one of the only in the whole Black Library that gives actual insight into how the person thinks. And it acknowledges that the Primarchs have doubts and other emotions.
… an honourable mention for the narrator: finally not everyone is voiced as if they are either steroid junkies or snivelling peons.
Hope you enjoy.
