Publisher's Summary

Can you imagine a new chemical compound, a nonaddictive designer drug that heightens your assertiveness, opens the door to your primal self, giving you an edge wherever you compete, whether on the street or the football field, in a classroom or a boardroom? Wouldn’t you be tempted to try it...just once? What happens if it releases uncontrollable rage and makes you a killer?

Critic Reviews

"Wilson skillfully juggles subplots whose unpredictable collisions and complications further accelerate the relentless momentum of Jack’s labors.... A satisfying open-ended climax sets the stage for yet another chapter in Jack’s compelling saga." ( Publishers Weekly on All the Rage)

Jack In Top Form

Really enjoyed this listen. Great story, plenty of action and this narrator is growing on me. I initially liked the narrator of the three prequels better.

Old book, parts are outdated, but overall OK

Personally, I love reading and I understand that older books can be somewhat anachronistic (and sometimes triggering). For example, Tom Clancy, Michael Chrichton, and Dr. Wilson have all written books that can be cringe worthy because character descriptions and actions that don't make sense in this day and age. Like the other aforementioned authors, Dr. Wilson doesn't write women well but technically the female perspective isn't exactly front-and-center in this story. Ultimately, he does manage to put together a great Lovecraftian horror story despite the above problems. Personally I loved all the repairman jack stories despite the fact that they don't age well. The overall arc is engaging and often unpredictable and made it a pleasure to read. TL;DR: this is a one man A-Team story written in the 90s with a hint of supernatural evil that lurks in the background. Taken for what it is, it's a great book (and series) but adjust your expectations accordingly.

good, but not fantastic

I love repairman jack books. The tire ins from book to book are fun and the action is excellent. the reading by Chris Price is excellent... beyond excellent really. I'd say, completely immersive. I gave this particular book 4 stars because of the over use of the no- subject sentence. [Jack] walked down the street became "walked down the street". Normally, something like this wouldn't bother me. but it happened so much this book that I found myself doing an internal sigh each time, which in itself became very distracting. please don't let this deter you from reading repairman jack books, or FPW books in general. Despite this minor glitch, I've gotten immense joy from them and the characters you meet, one after another, are real and deep and scary and likable all at once.

Otherness Level 10%

One of the best in the series, very little “Otherness” and more true to the “Fix It” Jack. A throw back to “The Tomb” with the appearance of Scar-Lip but no real emphasis on the “Otherness” that ruins this series.

Another good Repairman Jack story

While not my favorite Repairman Jack novel, I feel that it was still well worth a listen. Jack is still portrayed as a larger than life hero, however this time deals with a less outlandish subject matter. While I was not as satisfied with the overall concept, it was still a gripping story. Christopher Price, once again, does a wonderful job with narrating this adventure, and has me ready to start the next story.
