Publisher's summary

Motherly love can drive her to the absolute edge…

For nine years, Drew Baker has been running from her brutal husband and the dark deeds of the night she left him. Focused on protecting her ten-year-old son, Drew reluctantly settles into a small town, eager to find proof of her husband’s true nature so she can stop looking over her shoulder.

But Drew is also on the run from her own terrible crimes - ones that mean prison and separation from her son should the police catch up to her before her husband does. If only she could remember that night and what really transpired...

Without warning, the unthinkable happens, and Drew is plunged into the most nightmarish situation a woman and mother could imagine. Desperate to save her child, Drew takes matters into her own hands, proving that anyone is capable of darkness, and nowhere is safe for those who fear themselves.

An Up All Night Amazing Novel

I am am avid reader, 300 + books a year. This one was suspenseful and I could not stop until I knew the ending. 9 hours of straight reading and avoidance of all responsibilities and I have my closure. I may have hoped for a different end, but it was a PERFECT climactic closing. it's now 2 am and I only have a few hours to sleep, but most likely I'll be rehashing the story. Creepy, nail biting, intriguing. I will have to break from my usual genera of suspense, psychological thrillers, and crime novels to take in a less intense comical relief after this one. Trust me, you wont regret this book. I highly suggest you ensure you can forego life requirements long enough to read from start to finish, because you will not be able to put it down and wait to find out the close.

What a fun and engaging novel!

I love psychological thrillers. I burn through several a week. This one was gripping, fun, scary, and although a lot of trigger warnings for spousal abuse are needed, it was great and well-portrayed.

Good!

I really liked this book. I have not read/listened to anything by this author before but am pleasantly surprised. It was really good and not too hard to follow along with. There are multiple POVs if that is something you do not like so fair warning. But I really enjoyed it all. The only problem I had with the story was how the son was written but that was just a preference of mine.

Overrated

After reading reviews, I thought this would be a better book. Wasn't bad - just very predictable. Narrator was very good.

Amazing

I could not stop listening to this. The story wasn’t quite what I expected but it was in the best way possible. I truly loved every second of this.

Great Start - Now Let's Have Part 2

This was a good book - believable story - and left open for a great part 2 with the son as the lead. Worth the credit and I wish there were more by the author on Audible.

decent to pass the time, but cliche

I was a bit more optimistic given the great reviews, but it was a typical storyline that lacked much suspense. fast listen, with some cringe analogies - but overall not the worst I've experienced.

On the Run - an exciting story

Good story about an abused wife and her son on the run from the psychopath husband. She has been in hiding for nine years, moving from town to town. When she moves to the town of Liberty she reluctantly becomes involved with some of the residents She has avoided doing this the entire time she has been in hiding Now it seems that her discovery may be close. The narration was not fantastic but it was adequate I liked the characters that became attractive to the running woman, but I did not feel the heat or passion between the two.

This book kept me intrigued enough to listen to the whole thing in one sitting while I was working. I would say to give it a try.
