Publisher's summary

Sadie Alden got on a plane with no intention of looking back. She sold up her cafes back home and took up an opportunity that looked too good to be true. A beach side café on a remote island where no one knows her name, doesn’t that sound like heaven? Well...things are never simple.

News of her arrival seemed to travel fast across the island of Hallow Haven, but the locals know things about Sadie that she hasn’t told anyone, things that even she doesn’t know. She’s barely started a tour of the place before she is dragged into a cellar to dodge the incoming storm. Her new friend Kate insists that Sadie accompany her on a damage check around the island.

First stop; the cemetery. It seems that there is one extra grave and it has been uncovered by the rain. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter for Sadie, she is about to learn things about herself that have been hidden all her life. It turns out she has relatives out here, and they are all witches too.

Hallow Haven is a place filled with ancient feuds, magic and secrecy. Sadie was brought here by fate and only she can bring peace to the islands that surround her. Who can she turn to for help? The hot Sheriff that is trying to keep his distance, the local hiking expert that appears when Sadie is in danger, or the ghost in her kitchen? Life’s a beach. All Wands on Deck is the first book in the Hallow Haven Witch Mysteries series.

A fun listen!

Sadie Alden is moving to a new town... sort of. After ending a bad relationship, she starts over with a new job in a new home.

The odd thing is, the locals seem to know her.

In short order, Sadie finds out she's descended from a long line of witches. And that she, too, is a witch!

Get ready for a magical good time with a few laughs along the way.

I found this short cozy mystery an easy listen. There are fun twists within the story to keep the reader entertained. The story was well written with fun, quirky characters and an interesting setting.

Overall, I found the listen enjoyable and would recommend it!

Good start to a wonderful series

Mara does not disappoint with her story telling. it is a great start to a series. I just wish the narration was a little bit better. I would almost think it would be better just read by yourself then listening to the audio version. I travel a lot so I do not always have time to sit down and read for myself. Mara is a great writer.

The author, Mara Webb gave me this book for FREE!

I love the story and all the characters. Sadie must have had the worst first day at her job, but it was very entertaining to hear. I look forward to the rest of the story.

All Wands on Deck

Sadie had left her life behind on the mainland tho move to an island where she hopes to start fresh with no one knowing anything about her. Unfortunately that isn't what happens. From the moment she's meet at the airport she starts you learn that everyone knows her and that she had family in her new place. She is totally blind- sided and confused! She doesn't of goes with the flow until murder becomes known!
Naomie Rose-Mock brings Sadie and the island inhabitants to live as she takes us on a journey of discovery along with Sadie.

Engaging, But Too Short

I enjoyed both the story and narration, right up until the end. Wait, that was the end? Isn't there more story to listen to? Yes, the end came as a surprise and it's clear the author is trying to get people to read or listen to the next book in the series. Once the story ended, I had to back up and figure out what the climax of the story had been. This mystery is so cozy that the climax was only clear in retrospect; while it was happening it didn't feel like anything special.

Because of the length of the story only a few characters were fully developed and many were only drawn in vague outline, which is one of the reasons the crux of the story - the climax - sort of passed me by without me noticing it as something special. Despite that, the story had an interesting premise and was engaging, and I enjoyed the narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
