Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones has a reputation for being calm and collected under fire. These traits serve him well with his hotshot partner, Ian Doyle, the kind of guy who can start a fight in an empty room. In the past three years of their life-and-death job, they've gone from strangers to professional coworkers to devoted teammates and best friends. Miro’s cultivated blind faith in the man who has his back…faith and something more.

As a marshal and a soldier, Ian’s expected to lead. But the power and control that brings Ian success and fulfillment in the field isn't working anywhere else. Ian’s always resisted all kinds of tied down, but having no home - and no one to come home to - is slowly eating him up inside. Over time, Ian has grudgingly accepted that going anywhere without his partner simply doesn't work. Now Miro just has to convince him that getting tangled up in heartstrings isn't being tied down at all.

Impressive! A real love story with lots of crazy humor and a relief to find one gay story with only 1 political statement! I want to be entertained and this story does it! The only thing I did not like was the mention of propaganda regarding religion! I know many gay folks that believe and follow our Creator! Other than that I loved these rascals! Thank You Mary and Tristan!

Hard to put into words with out spoiling it. I loved the way Miro pines away after his partner. The danger of their job as Marshals was crazy dangerous! The author mage you feel like you were right there watching the scenes as they played out. The ending has a twist with their boss that I never saw coming! Overall it was well written and I really enjoyed it!

Lots of suspense, danger and gun fights!!

This is the best story this author has produced in several years, especially in the Chicago group of stories. The narrator brings to life the main characters' subtle nuances (Ian, subtle? 😄). The narrator really enhanced my enjoyment of a story I already liked.

Excellent narration

This is a great listen from two of my favorites, Mary Calmes and Tristan James -- what a wonderful team. This is sort of a spin off of the Matter of Time series (one of my all time favorites) focusing on the relationship between two of Sam Kage's Deputy US Marshalls, Miro and Ian. They are both alpha males in this GFY romance. Miro is openly gay and Ian is his "straight" partner. Lots of angst and action to lead to a HEA and hopefully more books about this couple. Also, Sam has a role and Jory makes a cameo, which is just great b/c I miss them soooo much. Tristan James is just wonderful as usually. Worth a credit.

Law man yummy

I've read a lot of negative about this narrator. He starts a bit distant, but does a beautiful job capturing the characters. The story is enjoyable, but predictable. A nice read (listen), definitely worth the investment. I appreciate that the characters were not all unicorns draped in rainbow flags. I would say that the end with the coworkers could have been handled differently. A bit too much and unbelievable. I always wonder if the author gets a bit tired. All in all, a nice book.

Not too fast.

The plot, the couple, the drama, the romance were all incredible. I loved all of it, even the supporting characters.
I have one complaint. The narrator needs to learn how to correctly pronounce Ms. Calmes last name.

Wonderful story

OMG they're so cute! Ian and Miro are just so dang adorable together. They're so hot!🔥 I cannot get enough of them. I love that I can read and listen so that I can always have the story going.

The narrator does a good job on the audiobook. He's a little monotone, but I'm glad this book is narrated by a person because I won't listen to ai or virtual voice.

So good!

Love how the relationship was the focus, but the job was also a priority (instead of them being so lovey dovey you wonder how they function). Swoon-worthy moments, hilarious dialogue, and tremendous depth of characters. The narrator was perfect. And the story is do much better than other series from this author.

Awesome balance of romance and professionalism

All Kinds of Tied Down is the first of four novels in Mary Calmes’ Marshals series. Strong alpha males are the centre of this novel, and series, and there aren’t many authors who write them as well as Mary Calmes. A riveting plot line with MC’s and side characters you’ll love combined with superb narration by Tristan James and this story will have you seriously invested from the very beginning.

Miro Jones is a thirty-one year old Deputy US Marshal who dresses in designer clothes while taking down some of the toughest criminals in Chicago. He generally follows the rules but will go to any lengths to uphold the law, though its playing hell on his designer duds! If he keeps getting stabbed and shot he’s going to give his partner Deputy US Marshal, and some time soldier, Ian Doyle, a heart attack. Not that gruff Doyle can say anything, after all he’s known as a gung-ho officer with the diplomacy of a gnat. Together they give their boss, Sam Cage, far too many scares and headaches, even though they are two of his best men. Yes, that’s THE fabulous Sam Cage from the Matter of Time series, and it’s wonderful having hot as sin, gruff and scary Sam revisit the reader in this series, even in a cameo role.

When we first meet these two gorgeous men, we quickly discover that Miro has been crushing on Ian ever since they became partners three years previously. Ian presents as straight, but the boundaries between these two are unusually close. They spend a great deal of time together on and off the job and Ian seems to be more interested in Miro than his latest girlfriend. As events and criminals keep throwing them together a slow burn relationship begins. If they can survive all the action then perhaps they’ll both have the courage to admit their feelings to each other, and their friends.

All Kinds of Tied Down is an action packed novel sprinkled with humour that will have you chuckling one minute, and on the edge of your seat the next. There was never a moment when I wanted to fast forward. I adored the side characters, particularly Miro’s ‘girls’, and the utterly adorable Cabot and Drake. I wanted to steal Ian’s dog, and even though Sam’s role is relatively small he certainly makes an impact when he appears. Well, he’s Sam so of course he does! If you haven’t read or listened to the Matter of Time series then you really need to add it to you tbr list.

Tristan James does a superb job of voicing Mary’s characters in a way that makes them all too real and utterly relatable. Nobody does gruff sexy alpha men quite like Tristan and the side characters were also perfectly voiced. I lost myself in his story telling, listening to this audiobook in one sitting and then immediately one clicking the next three in the series.
In short, a riveting story perfectly voiced. Highly recommended.

A riveting, action packed love story.
