Publisher's summary

The Alexandre Dumas Collection, with its deep roots in French history, sheds light on the innate sense of honor, duty, responsibility, and love felt by those who lived during the time. In the first story, The Count of Monte Cristo, you will be drawn into the adventures that a formerly imprisoned sailor endures in search of fortune and revenge, only to find mercy, forgiveness, and love at the end of his journey.

The Three Musketeers, the second story, is rife with friendship, loyalty, duels for honor, and position. Ultimately, the story’s protagonist is faced with the harsh reality of the high cost of that which he so laboriously and painstakingly sought after. Listen as the author takes you on a historical journey to a time when men fought to the death for what they believed in, when executions were a public event, and jewels were traded for secrets!

Join us for a reading of The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers, and where you will be enchanted by the adventure, danger, and vengeance that these two tales depict. The Alexandre Dumas Collection is certainly worthy of its world-renowned status as historical fiction and "keep you on the edge of your seat" adventures.

Adventure, Hope, Justice and Revenge!

The Count of Monte Cristo is perhaps my favorite story of all time! I love the depth of this novel and I am a sucker for prison escape stories. I just acquired this audiobook for my collection and couldn't be more satisfied. I have yet to read or listen to "The Three Musketeers" but I am eager to get to it. These package deals are a great value! The production quality is superb and I really enjoy the narration. 10/10 would recommend this!

Phenomenal Classics. Must Listen!

I’ve seen the movies and read most of his books. Dumas adjust characters based on historical contexts very well. The movies are OK, but the originals top any remake. I’ll never understand how they can simply skim over so much good content from these books when filming.

I’m really glad that I picked this version to listen to these classics. The narrator did a great performance for these long works. Dumas would be happy.

Adventure! Love! Danger! Revenge!

Who could ask for anything better than all of these packed into these two amazing books!!!

For someone who loves historical fiction and adventure, I just can’t get enough of Dumas’ writing style. The narrator of this collection kept me engaged and waiting eagerly for what was to come next.

I highly recommend listening to The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers and escaping to another world, another time in history.

Wonderful books, horrific ponounciaton of French, Italian, and even English!

Dumas Is perhaps my favorite writer of all time and I have now read both of these books twice. I wholeheartedly recommend them. previously I read both in paper so I had a very different experience from listening to the audiobook. I do think the narrator has a bit of Verve and makes the stories more interesting, but his pronunciation is absolutely inexcusable and that applies to every single language used in the books, even the english. it's ridiculous, like these things were read by a badly programmed ai. I would recommend this collection to a friend but with the caveat that the pronunciation is going to drive them nuts if they care about such a thing. actually, the pronunciation is bad enough that sometimes you have no idea what is going on,

Great story, horrifying performance

The story is a classic. The performer could have looked up how to pronounce words he wasn't familiar with. It's a French book with French words in it. It would have added a nice touch if he'd found out how to pronounce at least the French words.
He pauses for every three-syllable word, to figure out what to say. You can tell he doesn't know what some of the three-syllable words mean, even the English words. His tone, he's trying to sound grand, but his tone of voice is exhausting.

I want to give better

I'm about two hours in and ready to give up. Monte Cristo is one of my favorites, and I'm not understanding a decent part of what he's saying. Yes, he's enunciating, but butchering all the French that isn't translated.
Specifically, he can't seem to decide on how to pronounce Moreau, and somebody forgot to tell him that the M. that comes before a name is shorthand for Monsieur, like Mr or Mrs. Names and Places making it hard to keep track.

Also, he's relatively monotone. It's not droning, but he doesn't seem to understand the tone of what's going on and so everything is coming out flat.

Poor performance

Great stories read by a person who can not pronounce a name or French title correctly, ruined the experience
