Mystery romance

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was a sweet romance along with a bit of a mystery. I really liked that the characters developed a friendship over months. I appreciated that Shannon didn’t fall head over heals for a pretty face when she was trying to get over a betrayal of her except boyfriend. I appreciated that the story wasn’t focused on the attraction they had for each other even though Shannon does recognize Rick as being quite handsome. I also appreciated that this was a clean story. I figured out what was wrong with Shannon’s father from the beginning and the reason behind it. But I didn’t figure out exactly how it was accomplished. That was the only thing I was frustrated by in the book. I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t considered sooner. The narrator also did a good job.

Somewhat predictable, but enjoyable

There were aspects of the storyline that I really enjoyed. The exploration of the feelings that develop between two people when one is set to protect the other was good.

However, there were a few flaws in the story that I had a hard time letting go of, like when Shannon's best friend is kidnapped, little is done to rescue her for a couple of weeks. And there were loose ends too, like who the old man was that was charged along with Mark initially. They even acknowledge in the story that they don't know who he is, and then just leave it there, which felt lazy to me.

However, fiction is all about the willing suspension of disbelief. So perhaps I'm looking for too much when I let these things bug me.

As a romance, I did enjoy the development of the relationship between Shannon and Rick. And as a suspense, Mark seems like a worthy adversary. So, at the end, I was satisfied with the outcome.

As for the narration, I enjoyed the narrator's performance very much, but the room tone in the audio background was too loud and I found it distracting at times.

Mystery, Some Twists, and a Healthy Dose of Humor!

Shannon’s life has become a circus. Her father is deathly ill, and she has found out her boyfriend is a psychopath. Can she keep all of the plates spinning long enough to stay alive and maybe also save her family?
I feel as if I can’t say much more about this book without giving away the little moments that made this book so much fun.

Romance Suspense with a side of comedy

This was a great Romance Suspense with a side of comedy story. Well, maybe not comedy but some light-hearted seriousness, at least from my point of view. I truly did enjoy my time in this author's story with this narrator's presentation of 'Agent in Old Lace'. If you choose to read this story, I do hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Engaging and exciting mystery

This is a charming and delightful romantic suspense story. As I suspected more was going on than was obvious. My thanks to the author for providing a copy for my voluntary review. A wonderful bit of escapism during these trying times.

An exciting who done it mystery with some romance and a twist at the end. I will look for more books by this author.

The knight vs the jerk.

Shannon finds something terribly fishy when she sees some files her boyfriend has on her dad and her business dealings. As he produces a gun and then says she must marry him as he is taking her up the canyon to a secluded area. After she gets away Rick the FBI agent enters the picture. As they seek to find clues and for him to keep her safe,Shannon discovers what a jerk Mark was and what a shining knight Rick is. There are lots of twists and turns and Tristi does a great job of providing suspense along with some light hearted comedy moments.

fun romantic suspense

A enjoyable fun romantic suspense.  This engaging storyline kept me interested from the start with kidnapping, humor, action, chemistry, romance, and mystery in a good clean story.  The characters are intriguing, well developed and truly delightful.  The narration was wonderfully done really adding to the adventure. Really glad I found and listened to the little gem.

This was a great “who-done-it.” I couldn’t foresee every plot twist in this book. It made it extremely hard to put down.

Mystery, suspense and romance

Shannon has it all -- a career that she likes, a supportive family and a devoted boyfriend. Everything is going great right up until she discovers that her boyfriend, Mark, is a criminal.

After escaping from jail, Mark begins to stalk Shannon and the FBI is called in to protect her. A relationship between Shannon and agent Rick begins to develope. Can the FBI find Mark and keep Shannon safe so that she testify at his trial?

This book had all of my favorite things: mystery, suspense, action, humor and romance. The story quickly grabbed my attention and kept me guessing. I liked the characters and and the story line held my attention (it was annoying when real life got in the way of my listening). This was my first experience with both the author and the narrator, but I look forward to seeing more from them both.

A fun & enjoyable story

I found the overall story to be quite enjoyable. It has a good amount of suspense without producing anxiety and it is a clean read with a good blend of sweet moments. The story takes a few two days and turns that I wasn’t expecting from the outset which I enjoyed.
Now for the audio side of things. The narration, I have to admit is not my favourite, but I know I am picky with this and it was still very well done. I can’t imagine it’s an easy job performing multiple character roles for both male & female parts.
I am happy to recommend to anyone who likes clean crime reads with a nice dose of romance to accompany it 🙃
