Publisher's Summary

After six grueling months back in London, Agatha Raisin returns to her beloved Cotswold village of Carsely - and to the charms of her neighbor, James Lacey. True, James is less than thrilled to see her, but Agatha is soon distracted by a sensational murder. The victim, hiker Jessica Tartinck, spent her life enraging wealthy landowners by insisting on her walking club’s right to hike over their properties. Now she has been found dead....

Love that Agatha!

I'm definitely addicted to these stories. Brief and breezy, they're a lot of fun. I particularly like the character of Bill Wong, with all his quiet wisdom. The only thing that bothers me sometimes is the elitist classism that is so evident in the writing, from the description of dowdy working class apartments to cheaply made clothes worn by said working class. A bit judgmental. Otherwise, these stories are great fun.

More!

I love and am now obviously obsessed.

1 book a day will leave me in a book-hole soon enough, but I can't stop/won't stop.

Enjoyable

This is my 4th novel by Beaton, and all have been the Agatha Raisin series. I’ve enjoyed them all. Quick fun reads made even more fun from the narration.

Ok, Im sold!!!

My introduction to Agatha Raisin was, I assume it to have been, the prequel - Agatha's First Case. It was a short story. I only downloaded it because it was included in my Audible membership. Initially I did not like Agatha. I finished the first book and realized the entire series was actually included so I figured why not. Now I find myself finishing a book and wanting more. I still do not care for Agatha and sometimes her antics annoy me but overall I enjoy the series and the characters. What I really like is the stories are very easy to follow and the plots are not too predicable. I recommend checking out the series. It is truly enjoyable. I do not regret starting this series.

Good story!

Total twist in several points and ending in a surprise. Charles is introduced in this book and he becomes a favorite of mine. Excellent narration by Penelope Keith.

Love these mysteries.

I’m in the process of reading each one in sequence.
They are so entertaining to block out a routine day,
Put air pods in and do housework, at gym, and my car. What a life these mysteries are so great!

It’s just fun!

Since it’s free to members, do yourself a favor and get to know Agatha Raisin. The mysteries are secondary to life of the characters. And oh, what a bunch of characters!

Life in the Cotswolds

I think Penelope Keith and M. C. Beaton were born to work together on audible books. They bring the stories to life with actions and characterizations so true to life we actually live in the Cotswolds.

I love this series

Agatha returns back home after a 6 month leave and struggles to fit back into the routine of small town village. Nothing like a murder to get you back into things. Her and Mr. Lacey are contracted to solves the murders that keep happening surrounding the local rambling group full of political protesters and IRA. Things also take a sudden turn in their personal relationship as well. Funny, little cozy mystery.
