Atrocious Narration and Pathetic Production

The narrator sounds like he is drunk and that is on top of his inability to pronounce words correctly on numerous occasions... and the very distracting background music that is at times even louder that the narrator is an utter INSANITY … why on earth would there be a background music for reading a book... the music distracted me so much that I could not concentrate on the story and accompanied with the atrocious way the narrator was reading as if while inebriated I just could not at all tolerate the bloody farce of this production... and I cannot find a way to return it which adds an insult to the injury of having paid for this pathetic claptrap.

The most Atrocious recording EVER

DO NOT get this! It had to have been recorded in an echo chamber with a hand held recording devise AND whoever thought that playing techno music throughout the whole thing was insane. It was as if someone purposefully did everything they could to ruin these stories! I could only listen to about 2 minutes of it before turning it off. I spot checked other chapters to see if the music was throughout and it was.

Reader

The reader was hard to understand. His voice would go from too loud to too quiet.

Candidate for the worst audio book ever produced.

I wish I had read the other reviews for this audio book before purchasing it but alas, I did not and as such I have wasted one of my precious credits. I didn't make it to the end of the first chapter of the first book (which bears testament to how truly diabolical it is) and as such, this review is based on those five minutes of my life I won't be getting back.

Where to begin with this travesty? Let's start with the narrator. Not only does he speak with an American accent, he slurs words making it sound as though he's under the influence of narcotics or has recently suffered a stroke. His pronunciation of key words, such as Poirot (kind of intrinsic to the plot as the story is about this character) is appalling and his odd stuttering pace and weird inflections gives one the impression he has only just progressed from reading Roger Red Hat. Added to this, the vocal volume is all over the place which, when combined with the "background" music (which is not only incongruous with the period in which the story is set but also far too loud) makes it impossible to follow the plot.

If it was possible to give a score of negative stars for performance, this atrocious offering would be truly deserving. I am struggling to understand how Audible, who usually offer products of a very high standard, could stock this. I have given full marks for the plot as, being an Agatha Christie fan, I have previously read the stories myself.

Please learn from my mistake and dont waste your money on this product.

Nope

Awful narrator and quality. Random music playing over the narration? Don't waste your time or money on this series.
