Story
In fifth grade my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed. It didn't take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever. For the next seven years, it was us. She's the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

Jack Valentini isn't my type. Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave. Jack might be gorgeous, but he's also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a "rich city girl" like me, and he isn't afraid to say so. But I've got a PR job to do for his family's farm, so he's stuck with me and I'm stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles. His huge, hard muscles.

Kristen Petersen doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen - especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family.

Publisher's Summary
Tessa has everything to lose. Hardin has nothing to lose...except her. After We Collided... Life will never be the same.
After a tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Tessa and Hardin were on the path to making things work. Tessa knew Hardin could be cruel, but when a bombshell revelation is dropped about the origins of their relationship - and Hardin’s mysterious past - Tessa is beside herself.
Hardin will always be...Hardin. But is he really the deep, thoughtful guy Tessa fell madly in love with despite his angry exterior - or has he been a stranger all along? She wishes she could walk away. It’s just not that easy. Not with the memory of passionate nights spent in his arms. His electric touch. His hungry kisses.
Still, Tessa’s not sure she can endure one more broken promise. She put so much on hold for Hardin - school, friends, her mom, a relationship with a guy who really loved her, and now possibly even a promising new career. She needs to move forward with her life.
Hardin knows he made a mistake, possibly the biggest one of his life. He’s not going down without a fight. But can he change? Will he change...for love?

Painful
I have about 3.5 hours left and I don't think I can get through it. These characters are just too much. It's the same thing over and over and over again. It never gets anywhere. Also this author needs to stop using the word LITERALLY all the time. Her hair was black, literally black. Sooo overused. Wish I could return the book.

A trash story with a trash relationship
This book is a steaming pile of hot garbage. I read the first After, and since it basically ended in the middle of a paragraph, I decided to get the second one to see where it goes. Let me tell you, I envy the dead because they don't have the the ability to listen or read this trash.
Tess and Hardin have the WORST relationship that is toxic, manipulative, and abusive. "But oh, Hardin is hot and damaged and it's my responsibility to fix him." GIRL, PLEASE. GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT LOGIC. Tess is weak and SO annoying with her inner commentary saying things like "I don't deserve to be treated like this" and then just sets herself up for it again. Like, I CANNOT. I had to force myself to finish the book, and I vowed awhile back that I would not get the next ones and I am definitely standing by that. I cannot subject myself to this kind of torture and garbage again.
Also, Shane East CLEARLY does not have an English accent and it for sure took away from everything. Like, it literally sounds like he is trying to be an English Christian Grey and it does not work at all. No dice, friends. Save yourself the credit, the sanity, and the time, because this is not worth it. It completely rivals Twilight and Fifty Shades for the worst storyline ever amongst a toxic relationship.
PS: I never yelled "finally" at the end of a book like I did with this one. Literally screamed it in my car because I couldn't take it anymore.
PSS: Zed > Hardin. That's it, end of story, contract terminated.

Shane East!!!! Love this narrater!
Shane East literally makes Hardin come alive in this book! I confess I only bought the first book because of this narrator; but Anna Todd is a genius. I have never listened to (or read) a more intense series! I love me some bad boy Harden; and Shane East has without a doubt THE sexiest British accent ever!!!! I will buy anything Anna Todd writes! I will also buy anything Shane East narrates. Great book series!

I love the heartbreak as much as i love the happy moments in tessa and hardins story. I cried, i laughed out loud, i got mad and rolled my eyes, but im in love with this story. This story is more realistic to me than any love story i have ever read, it just goes to show that not every love is all hearts and flowers, there is going to be struggles.

How are ther 5 of these?
I randomly started this series not knowing anything about it, but just being a fan of the genre. Tessa is the dumbest little girl i have ever read about. it is infuriating the amount of bad, unthought out decisions she makes. How does this behavior go on for 5 books?! I cant see my self sticking around for that many 19 hour books.

Missing pieces, very frustrating. Contains spoiler
I'm not through reading this book yet but I'm getting highly irritated. A number of times now the book will reference items that I don't remember reading about. Spoiler alert: The first time I truly noticed this was in Chapter 54 when Tessa came back from lunch with Trevor and Hardin was there. The book goes from the start of a fight and then within seconds she's telling him that he's the only one for her. But multiple times later they reference a fight and suddenly Hardin knows that she went on a date with Trevor. Another time was after the car crash. Suddenly she comes home with Zed driving her. However, there is no backstory to how she called him or how he ended up taking her home. Later Zed references the drive and how he told her he was dating someone. I never heard anything about this. It's like I'm missing chapters or somehow when it's a chapter with Hardin's perspective, I'm missing her POV. The book for sure needs editing but not like this. Has anyone else encounterd this?! Need to know if it's something to do with the copy I've downloaded or just bad writing. It's so irritating! I don't want to continue listening if I'm missing items.

Love this series apart from annoying male narrator
I love this series of books so far especially the first book, and I find the female narrator perfect for the character and I enjoyed listening to Tessa's chapters but I found the male chapters spoilt the story! The male narrator was annoying and when he tried to do a female voice it was cringe worthy especially the intimate moments! I had to begrudgingly listen through so I didn't miss any of the story! They should have just left it the female narrator like the first book!!

A haunting depiction of an abusive relationship
Enjoyed the first book and its laying out of human flaws especially in love but this second book is dangerous. Seeing into the head of both characters we are supposed to feel sympathy for the thought processes of both as they repeatedly torture each other. Rationalizing their actions based on their past or that 'This is just what they are like'.
The presentation of Landon as Tessa's friend was ruined for me as soon as he asked Tessa to go to Zed to ask him not to press charges. That's b*llsh*t.
The male narrators 'female' voice is also ridiculous and does not do any female characters justice.
This book is a great look into the minds of an abused girlfriend - constantly blaming herself for his actions - and a manipulative boyfriend.
If I had written it, they would have never gotten back together after he went to England. A good character development would have been him dealing with being able to leave her to be happy and for her to find happiness with someone else .
But as it is this book throws them together time and time again, warping the readers views of relationships and general human decency.

It annoys me but I’m hooked
I really like the depth to both main characters and the portrayal of a relationship which acknowledges unhealthy behaviours however the repetitive fighting and making up is at this point becoming a little exhausting. Also the male voice actors portrayal of women’s voices has got to be one of the most unbearable things I’ve ever heard! More than once I had to take a break from listening as he was so cringeworthy!

Bad choice for male narrator
The male narrator was not a very good fit for this book. Tessa and Hardin are supposed to be 2 young people while Elizabeth is perfect for Tessa Shane sounds like an old man and the way he portrays a woman’s voice is really cringe and hard to listen to!

The dudes voice is just not it
It was soooo hard to hear the man's voice. Not that theres anything wrong with him but when he imitates the women is just... funny. I couldn't focus or take it seriously. Somehow whenever the women imitated the man wasn't bad though so not sure whats up with that. But yeah. The story is super entertaining but I'm an adult, I wouldn't want my teenage sister to listen to this and romanticize toxic relationships, possessive men, not leaving someone who mentally and physically hurt you and others etc.

Lies, deceit, abuse... and unconditional love
I read the whole series. It was ...OK. I found the characters to be incredibly frustrating & hard to relate to or even like. Hardins behaviour is appalling and Tessa doesn't have a backbone and is a victim throughout. I really hope that the young adults who read these books and watch the films realise that this behaviour isn't OK and they deserve better.
The books were hard to get through (but I needed to know how it finished). This one was the worst out of the series. Although they sort themselves out in the end, I couldn't help thinking about all the time wasted listening to these. Especially when I could have just watched the movies...

Rinse and repeat…
Wow, awful lot of fighting in this book…fists, shouting, screaming. It’s a bit over the top and not a lot of story or character development. The parts with Zed are interesting. Tessa gets a bit pathetic and I can’t believe just how many times Hardin stuffs up…apologises…is finally forgiven…and pulls exactly the same crap…and around it goes again…and again…and again. Like I said, it’s a bit over the top really. I think Anna Todd decided she was on a good thing and is stretching it out as long as possible!
Narration - I am yet to hear a man do a woman’s voice without either sounding like a breathy porn star…or a drag Queen! And when women try to read a man’s part they come across very monotone.

It's the narrating for me
I originally was drawn in, by the end I was over it and have had to take a break before starting the next book.
I didn't like the male narrator speaking the female role, it sounded odd and made me cringe.

Great book.
Shane ruined Hardin’s monologue with his Tessa impression. Absolutely dreadful.
Otherwise enjoyed the book, Elizabeth read well.

I think it's in your best interest not to listen.
Let's start with the narrators. Shane East does a reasonable job of the male roles but he makes females sound like drag queens, so hard to listen to! On the other hand, the female narrator is okay (slightly whiny and grating) but does an amazing job of the male voices. I don't think Shane East is needed, he didn't narrate the first book and he wasn't missed then.
Secondly, editing was terrible! Someone has clearly decided to chop bits out of the book without concerning themselves with continuity so the storyline doesn't always flow.
Thirdly, this book has taken the last 70 years of feminist plight and thrown it in the bin. The female protagonist actually had female masturbation man-splained to her. I don't care how naive you are, when an uncaring, selfish AF man knows more about how to please you than you do, something's wrong!
Finally, it's boring. It's a little bit enticing, mildly captivating and you'll probably get hooked and want to find out what happens but don't do it! It's an annoying back and forth of every nightmare, abusive relationship you can imagine. It's not terrible but it goes on and on with the same crap and I really think you should all do yourselves a favour and avoid it to begin with.

Frustrating
A lot of repetition and I thought, just leave him already! In saying that however, I enjoyed the book. I particularly like the narration by Shane East, such a sexy voice, but a shocking delivery of the female characters..he gave Hardin a good edge, and It was good to understand more of this character
