Publisher's summary

A woman’s sexual obsession will be her downfall—or her liberation.

For successful African American businesswoman Zoe Reynard, finding the pleasure she wants, the way she wants it, is not worth the risk of losing everything she has: marriage to the man she has loved since childhood, a thriving company, three wonderful children. But Zoe feels helpless in the grip of an overpowering addiction—to sex.

Finding a compassionate woman therapist to help her, Zoe finally summons the courage to tell her torrid story, a tale of guilt and desire as shocking as it is compelling. From the sensitive artist with whom she spends stolen hours on rumpled sheets to the rough and violent man who draws her toward destruction, Zoe is a woman desperately searching for fulfillment—and something darker, deeper, and perhaps deadly. As her life spins out of control and her sexual escapades carry her toward a dangerous choice, Zoe is racing against time to uncover the source of her “fatal attraction.” Chilling secrets tumble forth from the recesses of a woman’s mind, and perilous temptations lead toward a climax that can threaten her sanity, her marriage—and her life.

Could have been better but NOT a TOTAL disappoint!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This was a decent story BUT far too much time was spent on the past and not the present and future. I enjoyed the narrator's voice. It kept me interested. Overall, a good (listen).

Has Addicted turned you off from other books in this genre?

This book kept my attention the entire time. Which is always a plus! Certain parts you could tell what was about to happen but overall it was worth my credit.

Makes a good first listener.

This book was not just your typical drama where you can guess the whole story line. It had twist and surprises. I think it makes a good first listener book. Especially if you enjoy a good lifetime movie and trying to get into reading. There was enough going on to make you want to keep listening. The narration of the book was very believable. It is a book for a mature listening audience. It central truth is how one decision can change your whole life.

A story of a unlikable woman and weak plot devices

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. Zoe makes her way though live belittling, insulting and degrading others with a in your face attitude if anyone tries to help her. Her first reaction is aggression or violence by word or action. She doesn't want any one "In her business" but she feels free to intrude into everyone's else's business. The plot device that both men she has affairs with are violent jerks and one a serial killer was not believable. Zoe reacted to people and life like a macho immature 14 year old boy yet supposedly everyone liked or loved her even though she was a bitch. Life doesn't work that way.

Would you be willing to try another book from Zane? Why or why not?

Maybe. She has talent as a writer and I think she thought Zoe's attitude was strength which it wasn't.

Have you listened to any of Nicole Small’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was Addicted worth the listening time?

I thought it was going to be but the last quarter of the book changed my mind. I think the author was lazy and used simple plot devices to resolve the story and have a happy ending. and to explain the behaviors.

Any additional comments?

Being insulting, degrading, and belittling people is not strength. It is being obnoxious and a bully.

Prepare to be disappointed

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story line was mediocre, I was expecting more of an erotic story. I felt I had to force myself to listen.

What could Zane have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I dont think she has it in her.

Would you be willing to try another one of Nicole Small’s performances?

Yes, the narration was better than the story.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger that I stuck it out expecting something good, only to be left wishing I would have spent my money on a different book.

Any additional comments?

Dont waste your time, I took a chance on this book and was left with regrets.

Raunchy and not worth the money.

What would have made Addicted better?

Leave out all the unnecessary detail and expand upon the things that matter. I know what comes out of someone's nose when they blow it, but I didn't need to be reminded that someone blew mucus from their nose.

What was most disappointing about Zane’s story?

The main character's ignorance and obvious lack of emotional intelligence.

Would you be willing to try another one of Nicole Small’s performances?

No.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The only redeeming quality didn't come out towards the end when the author finally shed some light on the sexual problems of the husband and his past.

Any additional comments?

I don't recommend this book to anyone.
