In the aftermath of the Battle of the Crossroads, Bran convinces the few warriors who remain to gather their families and live as one clan under his leadership. Together they abandon their villages and unite under a new sigil - the Sacred Oak of the Crossroads - no longer referring to themselves as Easterners, Northerners, or Southerners but simply as "Oaks."

With his clan and their new village well established, Bran asks Lucia to leave the Isle and be his queen, leaving her with a difficult choice to make - to become a Priestess of the Isle or Queen of the Oaks. Her response leads Bran to a decision that threatens to destroy not only his honor but the future prosperity of his people. Unknown to either of them, the birth of a wee golden child, abandoned and set adrift in the sea, has set in motion a series of events that threaten to destroy the Oaks completely and will take them on a journey to realms in both this world and the next.

Sad it's over already. Good news I get to start the next one that I hear is the best of the three. I love how the author has blended real history, myth and legend with awesome storytelling.

Even better than the first!

This is a continuation to the adventures of the characters in the first book. Ancient Celtic legends are influencing the new stories of bravery, honor, tragedy, magic, and love.

A journey into myth and legend.

I had the pleasure in reading the first book from the Islands in the Mist series, also, titled Islands in the Mist. I was exciting to have the opportunity to read the second installment called, Across the Sea. I was far from being disappointed. It was great catching up with Bran once again and seeing what was happening to him and his people were now. I admit that I am not a huge fan of the fantasy genre, however, this story had me captivated and it was a nice change to read something new and different. The book was full of action, danger, suspense, and romance. I loved every single minute of it.

I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of Across the Sea. I loved the performance of the narrator, John Keating, was superb. I enjoyed hearing his take on the story and thought it was a wonderful addition to it.

I am going to give Across the Sea a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who love to read exciting and adventurous fantasy fiction. I am looking forward to read the next installment from the Islands in the Mist series, Rise of the Pendragon. I am curious to see what happens next with J M Hofer's characters.

I received an audio version of J M Hofer's Across the Sea from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
