Publisher's Summary

Bonjour, my name is André Chevalier. It has been my joy and my great honor to help those who have lost their way. Not long after I began my journey, I met two such wounded souls.

Renata Koreman is my little mouse. She came to me as a child - shy, mute, injured, and broken. It took oh-so-many years to start to bring her back to herself. Yet, I could not fully heal her.

Years later, Grant Wilkinson, he, too, fell into my hands. The ex-Army Ranger was badly disfigured and saw himself as a monster. Isolated by secrets, solitary, and self-contained, his colleagues affectionately named him "Frosty". Yet, how should one behave when besieged by a lifetime of confusion and guilt?

The moment I saw him, I thought of her and I wondered. The eyes, they cannot always see clearly. And the heart? Ah, the heart can only guess at the truth. So it was that I remained uncertain.

Could the mouse and the monster heal each other?

Behind a backdrop of secrets, scandal, and murder, Abuse: The Complete Trilogy (Abuse, Accuse, Avenge) is a realistic journey full of healing, twists, turns, and surprises.

WOW! emotionally charged with some oohhh

I don't usually take time for reviews but, this needed it! Nikki Sex has a way with touching the most unwanted topics to talk about and turning it into a topic that once opened, no one wants to stop! Child abuse in ANY form is despicable however, sexual abuse is so tabu that every one makes it a crime to talk about. therefore children of sexual abuse turn out to be adults of sexual abuse with so many mental problems that they are labeled crazy or mean.
This book really shows how after opening up and confronting what happened or is happening, that a new beginning can happen and is possible.
Now let me say that this book is not for the faint of hearts, some parts are hard to listen to (weather or not you have been a victim of child abuse) but it gives great understanding as to why it has been so easy for prediters to get away with it for SOOOO long!
There are some very detailed sex scenes (between consenting adults) that will make you tingle and seek out you significant other...lol. And some scenes that will make you cringe and maybe cry. No matter how you look at it, you WILL end this book with a lot of thoughts.
I do recommend this book to all ESPECIALLY those studying criminal law or counseling or psychiatry.

Mr. Scarlato does a freaking AMAZING job

Audio-book: Narrator - Roberto Scarlato

Wow! Mr. Scarlato does a freaking AMAZING job of narrating this story!!! He did both male and female perfectly which can be a difficult task. On top of that, he does a remarkable job of Andre’s French voice. Even the chapter openers were done with consideration to the accents and tones of the person who was being quoted. The detailing of this narration was unlike any I have listened to before!

Abuse

Wow, this one has so much pain and heartache. I loved these characters and the connection they immediately feel for one another. Andre is definitely a keeper and I respected the heck out of the way he helped both Renata and Grant. So many secrets to be revealed and I can’t wait to continue on into Accuse.

Accuse

Renata and Grant grow closer as the story covers so many layers of psychological healing through connecting with another person. As a sexual surrogate, Renata helps to lead Grant to a place where he is able to open up through communication as well as sexually. There isn’t a lot to the backstory of being “accused” but some groundwork is laid. This has a lot of sex in it, but there is so much more to it as well. Obviously, this author has tremendous experience in the mental health care system or did an incredible job of researching the topic.

I am totally in love with both of these characters as they move through their past issues and push forward into the future. Cannot wait to learn what the “mystery” will eventually reveal.

Avenge

Holy wow! This one just blew me away as all the mysteries are revealed. The secrets run deeper than I ever expected! Grant and Renata learn to rely on each other as they move through the obstacles that arise. With Andre’s advice in the forefront of their minds, they both struggle to make decisions and changes that will help to alter their current life as well as their futures.

There is a ton of sex as Grant continues to work through some of his issues but I loved how Renata was always attuned to his needs. The secondary characters play a bigger role and were done in an exceptional manner, supporting the plotline and helping to move the story along.

I truly enjoyed everything about this book and this series.

While I own an ebook of this trilogy, I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Mixed Review

Title: Abuse: The Complete Trilogy
Author: Nikki Sex
Forma: Audio
Narrator: Roberto Scarlato
Genre: Mystery, Erotica, Dark
Standalone: The box set is
Part of a Series: All three of three titles in the box set: Abuse, Accuse, Avenge
POV: Multiple - but mostly Grant and Rensata
Steam Level: Very hot at times
3.5/5

I'm of mixed opinion of this trilogy. One the hond it was written really well. The mystery kept me listening and it look me longer than normal to figure out who committed the opening murder. However, I was also a little bored - but not bored enough to stop listening. However I did up the speed to 1.5. I think what I liked the most was the way the author dealt with issues of adults working through child abuse. The ups and downs, blame, and triggers were spot on. Using therapists to work through all the self-loathing, self-destruction, and yet continued love for their abuser was a unique and fantastic way to work through these issues. Abuse: The Complete Trilogy takes the reader/listener on an epic journey toward healing, for which I applaud Nikki Sex. This could have been a way different story but putting the focus on the abused who are healing rather than the abuser or on the abuse at the time of abuse makes this trilogy much easier to listen to and also a much more positive position of taking control of your past and controlling you narrative and reactions to it.

I received this audiobook for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Wow!!

This was an incredible story that addresses so many issues I couldn’t even begin to name.
Let’s just say, I was totally intrigued and couldn’t put this book down. At times I felt it was a bit slow and redundant but at the same time I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. To me, because of all of the in depth details of the different types & stages of abuse, it felt real, although I’m not speaking through personal experience. But for reading/listening entertainment I felt it was a bit longer than it needed to be.
Let’s talk narration,
Roberto Scarlato had me absolutely mesmerized. He captured each character precise and with conviction.
The accents for me, (while I’m not an expert) were amazing.
I NEED Andre in my life.
The erotic love scenes had me examining my own desires.

Powerful

I'll be honest, I started this just looking for a nice long story that would be erotic and enjoyable in equal measures. I wasn't prepared for how powerful, liberating, and honestly therapeutic this book was.

***possible spoiler warning***

Like the main male character, grant I was a victim of sexual abuse as a child, and remember it. This book honestly felt like therapy, telling me some of my fantasies and desires were normal, even healthy. My abuse was nowhere near as bad as Grant's but still this book resonated with me in ways I honestly wasn't prepared for when I started it. Yes the sex scenes are hot as hell. This is my second book by Nikki that I've enjoyed and she can really capture the feelings in a bedroom scene but the other scenes were so powerful, the therapy while simplified was on point and honestly very helpful.

I received this book at my request in exchange for a fair and honest review. That said if I had known the journey and help this book would take me on, I'd have happily paid double the list price without hesitation.

Fantastic value

Abuse
Lots of ground works in this book. I feel that this trilogy is going to have a hell of a lot of twists and turns.
Accuse
This second book is more of the emotional side of abuse. This therapy makes this book very interesting! Looking forward to the last book to tie up all the loose ends.
Avenge
What an ending! There is quite a few WTF moments in this book. I must confess I didn’t see that ending. Great to see how two abuse survivors make their way in life.

Emotional

Wow this was much more emotional than I was expecting. It was detective drama, mystery, erotica all rolled into one. The author did a good job on her research and portraying dealing with childhood abuse in a realistic way. I loved how the author shows the effects abuse has on adults and just how deep the pain goes.

Grant is damaged and has been living with scars and secrets. He's been through so much and has convinced himself he's a monster. His therapist, Andre, has unusual methods in helping Grant heal, including sending him to see another of his clients, Renata. Renata had a difficult upbringing and my heart broke for her.

One of my biggest issues is the insta love. It's very unbelievable, especially with the demons both of them are healing from.

By the second book, there were large parts that were, quite literally, copied and pasted to the next book. It was completely unnecessary and just annoyed me to no end.

It could have been a lot shorter if there wasn't so much repetitiveness but overall, it's a good emotional story.

The narration by Roberto Scarlato was great. He was clear and did a good job with the accents. I found his speaking slower than others but it was still clear when sped up.

High Octane Emotions! - Awesome!!

This has got to be one of the most stunning emotional series of books I have ever read!
Horrifically subject matter handled in the most amazing sensitive way!
I laughed, cryed, got angry and sad and followed the highs and the lows of the characters!! I felt like I was going through therapy myself as the advice given by Andre and Renata apply to so many things in my life as well as those of the characters!!
Writing at its purest!!

An epic set of books!!

Nikki Sex is easily one of my favorite authors. This series is a perfect example of why. Not only is it a sexy and satisfying romance it's also an incredibly compelling social commentary. She touches on subjects that are often considered taboo. She creates characters that are deeply complex and relatable. Wrapping it all up in a story that leaves you both thoughtful and completely satisfied.

Roberto's performance was absolutely fantastic!! He portrayed all the characters amazingly. He drew me into the story and I easily got lost in his voice.

Superb.

This is a stunningly complex, compelling and intense book, both to read and to listen to. It has such rich characterisation, a plot which is totally engrossing and an excellent narrator in Roberto Scarlato. I have been completely engaged in this story. Andre Chevalier is an enigmatic, beautifully drawn character, and, with Grant and Renata, Edgar and Roman, and many other cleverly realised actors on the stage of this trilogy, you have an incredible listening experience. I encourage you to start listening to this series immediately. It is one of the best audios I have listened to for a long time as it not only explores and developed a fantastic plot, but courageously addresses incredibly sensitive and important issues.

Wow

You can tell a tremendous amount of research went into this box set! There is a lot of depth to the characters, and you’ll be on an emotional rollercoaster just like the characters. Roberto did a decent job, there were areas that could have been improved but overall a decent job.

Reviewed for Audiobook Obsession

This is one powerful story, abuse is a very sensitive subject, but Nikki Sex tackled it brought it to life. The characters are all well developed individuals with there own issues and layers. There has to have been a lot of time, effort, study put into the development of the plot and storyline of this trilogy. Secrets, lies, scandal, twists, turns, murder, healing, a wow wasn’t expecting that moment and a HEA.

A lot of book for one credit

This one is definitely worth a credit. It's dark and has a lot going on so it held my attention for the 20 some hours of listening. Be aware of trigger warnings because they are real and in this book. From the beginning this book puts you in an emotional head space and just knocks you all around from there. Two thumbs up for Roberto Scarlato and the many voices he was able to perform for this book.
