Publisher's summary

"Just because one of you carries his scars on the outside, doesn't mean that the rest of you don't have them. Unbroken people don't live in a house together with their colleagues. They have lives, families. They don't take in strays."

Emily never expected to find herself on the street and looking for a place to stay. A park bench doesn't seem inviting in the depths of winter.

Her luck changes when a mysterious stranger offers her shelter. It seems too good to be true, and when she meets his other two housemates, she starts to question if he's the good Samaritan he seems to be.

Staying means things she couldn't even dream of. Going means facing the danger of the winter streets. Can she make the impossible choice? And will she make the right one?

A contemporary reverse harem set in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is the extended version of Streets of Winter, a novella previously published in the Snow and Seduction anthology. Eighteen+.

This is a full-length stand-alone novel that's part of the Defiance trilogy: three books, three women, three real-life stories. These dark contemporary reverse harem romances can be listened to individually or as part of the series. They are loosely connected by side characters and settings, but they each have a different heroine, theme, and love interests.

Action packed

Action packed storyline. Great characters that I definitely want more from. Hot and steamy at times. It’s a non stop read/listen.

Good story

Good story that is full of emotion and feels real and gritty. The main character goes through a lot, but grows as the series goes on.

Enjoyed

Very much enjoyed this audiobook. The characters are interesting, and Kyo Sija does a good job bringing the characters to life. My only wish is that the characters had taken more time to get to know each other.

Honest review

I recieved this book for an honest review. I absolutely love Em! She seemed to have pretty shitty luck after her gf kicks her out and em finds herself homeless on the streets in winter. She survives for a long time learning out the hard way that people are not as nice as she had orginally thought. She meets these guys that take her in, and I got to see Ben is my favorite (sorry not sorry!) Em's story unfortunately is common where people find themselves on the streets just trying to survive everyday. The story was great, the MC was relatable and so strong, and Kyo Sija the narrator was amazing!

Not what I was expecting, and thats a good thing!

Abandoned Heart by Skye MacKinnon and narrated by Kyo Sija is well written and in my opinion awesomely performed. Kyo Sija is very talented with multiple accents and male and female characters.
Meet Emily, the FMC, living on the streets of Edinboro in the winter. She's educated and still trying to deal with the pain of an abusive relationship that ended with her being thrown out of their flat with nowhere to go. As Em says, living on the streets has been better therapy that going to counseling. Nothing seems to be going right for her. Things are completely out of her control, she's broke and has learned not to trust anyone while living on the streets. Enter Ben, one of the MMC, who is following Em around, and trying to talk to her. This happens over several days and to get away from him Em goes to a part of town she doesn't really like. She is attacked and almost killed but luck finally has her being saved. Em wakes in the hospital still at a loss as to why Ben is there. Upon her release Ben takes her back to his place, where we meet Alistair and Luther.
This is an RH with sexual scenes and for some triggers.
I will definitely be listening to this again. I will also be recommending this to others.
I was given this book for an honest review, and that's what I have done.
I liked this book, and I think the author did a great job with her choice of narrators.

I so love this

Em has hit some hard times. She unexpectedly loses her place to stay and winds up homeless. Unexpected help comes when life is at its worst for her. I love that she doesn’t want anything handed to her and wants to stand on her own two feet. Intrigue and love await you on this journey. The narration is so good. I really want more.

Interesting read

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The struggles the Em had to go through at the beginning were terrible. I'm glad she met Ben and in turn Luther and Alister. They are great and care for Em a lot. I did not see the end coming with the letter. I am glad everything worked out for them in the end. I plan on reading/listening to other books by Skye MacKinnon. Kyo Sija did a great job narrating.

I wanted more.

I enjoyed this story well enough. I think listening to the audio book made it better somehow. The narrator did a fantastic job. The story itself was different. Things went slow, then fast, and back to slow. Most of it was unbelievable and unrelatable but good nonetheless. It got pretty steamy and felt to rush through the ending.

Good Book

I love that Emily is a strong character even though she finds herself homeless she doesn't want any handouts. I love that the guys go at her pace. I do wish there was more background on the characters I would have love to get to know more about them especially the guy. But still a great book. #AudiobookObsession
