A masterpiece of suspense from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child • Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!

“The truth about Reacher gets better and better.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don’t add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia.

An hour behind them, a man lies stabbed to death in an old pumping station. He was seen going in with two others, but he never came out. He has been executed, the knife work professional, the killers vanished. Within minutes, the police are notified. Within hours, the FBI descends, laying claim to the victim without ever saying who he was or why he was there.

All Reacher wanted was a ride to Virginia. All he did was stick out his thumb. But he soon discovers he has hitched more than a ride. He has tied himself to a massive conspiracy that makes him a threat—to both sides at once.

In Lee Child’s white-hot thriller, nothing is what it seems, and nobody is telling the truth. As the tension rises, the twists come fast and furious, keeping readers guessing and gasping until the explosive finale.

I have read four or five iin the series. I like the character Jack R, and I find Lee Child's plots usually intriguing and unique. This one became tedious and stretched the limits of believablity too far. I liked the beginning and it became a bit confusing and quite implausible. I don't mind Dick Hill. I don't understand why women don't read for the women characters. He can't pull that off. I am going to try some of the earliest ones. He might be having to stretch to far???? as he gets this far into the series.

If you could sum up A Wanted Man in three words, what would they be?

This book gives readers a more cerebral Reacher. He seems to have almost become a kinder more gentle soul, until there is no recourse but to act, then his reputation for problem solving takes flight.

Which character – as performed by Dick Hill – was your favorite?

In the entire series, Reacher has always been "the" character.

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Loved the book. Had me hooked all the way through with plenty of twists.

What did you love best about A Wanted Man?

I love the impossible situations lead character Jack Reacher gets into. It is always a great plot twist that steers Reacher out of trouble. Child is such a master. Can't wait for the next book! Hope Reacher makes it to Virginia!

What did you like best about this story?

The best thing about this story is that as a reader, you know what is happening to the main character even though he doesn't realize what he's fallen into. Then, in a great plot twist, the reader is left in the dark while it is the main character that has figured out the solution. Great fun.

Which scene was your favorite?

Reacher running through an abandoned government installation blindly, knowing it is his last stand.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Jack Reacher is wanted for murder...and he's running from the FBI!

Reacher and Child do it again!

Would you try another book from Lee Child and/or Dick Hill?

By Lee Child, but not by Dick Hill.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

By adding the kind of action sequences that I've come to expect from books by Lee Child.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator’s rather quavery voice is all wrong for this kind of book. As he speaks their dialogue, the characters - especially the female characters, and even including Reacher – come across as enfeebled octogenarians.

Do you think A Wanted Man needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, because I've enjoyed most of the "Reacher" novels (although, because of the narrator) not this one. But not one that tries to continue the storyline of "A Wanted Man."

Any additional comments?

Just that I'm amazed that Dick Hill continues to narrate the "Reacher" novels.

OK book; terrible reader
