Even the most skilled sorceress can't ward off a lawsuit, and Lily is not at her enchanting best with her hands full as the temporary leader of San Francisco's magical community. So after her potbellied pig, Oscar, head butts rival clothier Autumn Jennings, Lily tries to make peace without a costly personal injury case.

But any hope of a quiet resolution is shattered when Autumn turns up dead. As one of the prime suspects, Lily searches for a way to clear her name and discovers a cursed trousseau among Autumn's recently acquired inventory. Lily must deal with a mysterious dog walker and spend the night in a haunted house as she delves into the trunk's treacherous past. She's got to figure out who wanted to harm Autumn fast, before the curse claims another victim.

Well done, Miss Blackwell

I’ve read this cozy mystery series since it first came on the market but you can read them as stand alones. However, there are character relationships that will make more sense if you do read them in order. In this book Adrian leaves town and puts Lily in charge and holding “the satchel,” which is a mystery in itself with no backstory. However, the backstory of Adrian might be helpful to know. This book also dangles an impending magical showdown involving this absent character but the ending is NOT in any way a cliff-hanger. The book has a conclusion. Well done, Miss Blackwell!

This is a light hearted series with loveable paranormal characters such as Lily’s familiar pig/goblin named Oscar. This books revolves around a law suit caused by him. The plot twists keeps the story from having a predictable ending. I love how the author throws us off the scent with every turn of the page.

Lily and Sailors relationship took on a more settled down/stable tone in this book. There are also some new and interesting characters introduced which I am sure will be in future books for which I can hardly wait!

LOVE the narrator who brings it all to life.

More great fun in this series

Lily is back and solving more clothing-related mysteries in this latest Witchcraft Mysteries book. I really enjoyed that Lily spent more time out of the shop this time and we got to see more of her city. The main mystery was well paced and interspersed with a few more incidents that advance the over-arching plot that involves Aiden. I love that these book have an over-arching plot, and I'm dying to see it come to the forefront. I wouldn't mind a whole book about Aiden or Sailor, and it's a rare author that can make each character so interesting that you wish you could know more about each of them.
I enjoyed the narration, the accents bring the characters to life, especially Lily and Oscar and the rest of the main cast.

Wonderful Mystery with a hint of romance

Would you listen to A Toxic Trousseau again? Why?

Xe Sands is an AMAZING narrator, she really makes you feel connected to the characters. Juliet Blackwell is a terrific writer. I love a good mystery, throw in a bit of magic and that is even better. What I like about the series is that she doesn't go overboard with the romance. The book is light, but captivating.

Fun, Sweet Mystery

Juliet Blackwell does not disappoint with her most recent Witchcraft Mystery. With her cast of regulars, and visits from a couple of previous characters, she introduces us to the world of deadly fashion - Victorian clothing dyed with poisonous ingredients to produce the lush colors adored by the wealthy.

The audible version really brings to life the various neighborhood descriptions, characters' quirks, ownerless dogs and overall sense of adventure. The narrator's voice is wonderfully adept at creating the characters, be they in Lily's vintage clothing store, a possibly haunted mansion, the dog park or Lily's cozy apartment.

I enjoy how the growth of her relationships and events of characters' lives occur in a pretty realistic way. Lily's witch out of the cauldron endearing idiosyncrasies are on excellent display in this story, exemplified by her lack of knowledge of pop culture references to the movies Big and Practical Magic, as well as the board game Clue. All in all, it's lots of fun and plenty of surprises amidst tales of a bygone era and a very toxic trousseau.
