Your prince charming will come one day. He may not ride a white horse or live in a big castle, but he will love you and only you. That was life for 29-year-old Monae, until one year into her relationship with her boyfriend Isaiah when she deals with verbal and physical abuse. As a victim of domestic violence, Monae lives in a constant state of alertness and anticipation, waiting for the next attack to occur. Every time she thinks she’s had enough, she would get charmed right back under his spell. That is until she starts cleaning for Coop, an infamous dope boy who sees all the signs of abuse she so desperately tries to hide. Coop tries his best to save Monae, but the question he has to ask himself is, does she really want to be saved?


Coop Fields, a true dope boy at heart, grew up in South Bronx and built his empire from the ground up. He’s labeled a drug lord, and although he has a legal business, it doesn’t change the label behind his name. Being an important person, he doesn’t have time to clean his spacious home, so he hires Monae who is recommended by a good friend of his to clean for him. The more Monae comes around, the more Coop becomes attracted to her, and even though they hardly ever hold a conversation, he thinks she is someone worth building with. When he learns of her relationship status, that doesn’t detour his mind, it just makes him want her even more. When he starts to notice more about her, he knows he has to save her, but that’s easier said than done.


Isaiah will do whatever to keep Monae under him, even if it means killing the people around her. Will Coop be able to set her free before it’s too late? Or will he lose his life trying to save hers?

The signs of abuse

I appreciate listening to this book, the signs of abuse were clearly visible anyone going through should take the right precautions before it’s too late. Would love more from this author!

Touching Tale

This story hit home for me. My mother was a victim of domestic abuse and it left a lifetime effect on me. So reading this story felt personal. The characters weren't perfect people which is as it should be. None of us are perfect human beings. As I read this story it had me pulling for the woman who was being abused and hating her abuser. The plot was excellent and I give it two thumbs up

Absolutely Not!

This book would have had potential if greater care were taken in the details. There are holes and gaps in things that should be clear. So many things just don’t make sense and it is frustrating. Isaiah has a job making a large amount more of money and starts off condescending and verbally abusive to Monae. Monae has a six figure business Stuart he makes her disband only the need her to find work again. She starts cleaning houses which is what her business was in the first place and then he wants her to go to work to make cleaning money??? Then Isaiah suddenly turns into a crackhead out of nowhere???? How did he enroll her in school with no money? He has a brother and a father, why didn’t he call them. And since when do thugs accept the murder if someone they don’t know payment when they’re owed $20k??? This book is dumb.

Rushed

This book was horribly written no. So rushed it didn’t make a lot of sense this author needs to read more books
