Another Fabulous Read

I cannot get enough of Lady Darby and Mr. Gage. Engaging mystery and just the right amount of heartwarming romance amidst the glamour and treachery of 19th century Scottish society.

Once again...a smash hit!!

The heroines and the heroes

I need a book with protagonists that I can root for, believe in and trust. I have that in this very enjoyable series.

Did he or didn't he ?

I was so looking forward to this book. I have to admit though, it did not hold my interest like the first three. Lady Darby befriends Lady Drummond , whose portrait she was commissioned to paint. Kiera feels Lady Drummond is on the verge of revealing something to her but before she can find out what, Lady Drummond suddenly takes ill and dies. Kiera believes she was poisoned so she and Sebastian launch their own investigation into her "murder". Thwarted in their efforts , even by Sebastian's own father, they plow ahead to find the killer. Overall a good book but it just was as exciting for me as the ohers were.

Wonderful performance

I thoroughly enjoy these recordings of the Lady Darby mysteries. I believe I prefer them as audiobooks more than I would reading them, which is rare. The narrator is brilliant. I'm glad to have made it this far with Kiera and Gage and look forward to the next stage of their life.

Delightful

Absolutely delightful. I am completely hooked onto book 5. Certainly well worth it and beautifully read.

Good story, annoying performance

Narrator does not do a good job differentiating voices and has an annoying affectation at the end of each sentence. Like the book but not the narrator.

An excellent addition to the series.

The Lady Darcy series is a new discovery for me and I’m enjoying it tremendously. The writing quality is solid, the plots are intelligent and interesting without becoming exceedingly and explicitly psychologically twisted or physically gruesome. The unique settings and use of historical detail are enjoyable. What makes them truly enjoyable though are the cast of characters, our growing familiarity with them and the growing relationships - particularly between Lady Darcy and Gage. At times the mental rumination of Lady Darcy border upon repetitive or whiny but they never wallow in pathos.
