Publisher's summary

Secrets can ruin lives, break bonds, and destroy families. Some secrets are so important they are worth killing for.

Erin had everything she ever wanted: her dream job as a FBI agent like her father and grandfather, assisting the lead agent in a head line catching serial murder case, and a boyfriend who loved her. Until she lost everything. The boyfriend, the journalist who she thought loved her, lied on a story, causing Erin to lose everything she worked for. After rebuilding her life in a quaint mountain town in Colorado, Erin learns her family has a dark secret she was never supposed to learn. The messenger? The serial murderer she was hunting.

A Family's Secret

I was a little disappointed when this story started off as an exciting serial killer mystery and than morphed into an over sexed romance. The plot of the serial killer and his down fall was great, but the middle of the story just didn't work for me. An FBI agent that doesn't do any research on the area she is moving to, doesn't recognize any wild animals, and doesn't realize that a mountainous region needs 4-wheel drive --really? I was gifted this from the author.

Obtuse FBI Agent!

Our female protagonist is caught up in a decades-old national conspiracy AND a serial killer. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? Except, very little happens until the last 20 minutes of the book, which is 5 hours but feels like 10. It's slow going most of the way but the ending is pretty dramatic, no matter how implausible.

Interesting story

This was an interesting story. It was a mystery/love/thriller. Sounds like a great combination, but this book fell a little short for me. There were aspects of the story I just couldn't get into like Erin being fired from FBI because they suspected her as the "D.C. Carver" and the whole Irish mafia story line. It's another case of slow start and rushed ending. I felt bad for Erin but she sure bounced back quick with a new boyfriend and everything. I didn't find it very suspenseful or me trying to figure out who the real killer was. A little disappointing.
