Publisher's summary

All she wants is a second chance at life and love...and a beach house in the Keys.

The last thing Beck Foster wants to do is attend a party for her estranged aunt in the Florida Keys. One month earlier, Beck’s seemingly ideal existence imploded when her husband of 34 years announced he was leaving her. Now, so she has to sell her house, get a job, and somehow put her broken heart and life back together. She can’t do all that if she runs off to visit a woman she barely remembers. Or can she?

Accompanied by her grown daughter who also longs for an escape, Beck heads to Coconut Key, where she’d lived the earliest years of her life. There, she forges a life-changing relationship with a woman she never really understood, dips her toes into the waters of a new romance, and begins the process of starting over. But when a secret kept for nearly 50 years comes crashing down on them, all of Beck’s dreams are once again threatened. Can she forgive the lies that have shaped her life, or will the past ruin her chance at a new beginning in Coconut Key?

The Coconut Key series celebrates older heroines, second-chance romance, entangled families, and lifelong friendships with a cast of unforgettable characters and stories that touch every woman’s heart.

Definitely not for me.

This is one of the few books I purchased without listening to the sample first. Unfortunately I was driving and my attention didn’t need to be on buying a book. When I first started it I knew it was a mistake as Beck, the main character’s nasal, sing-song voice made nails across a chalkboard welcoming. I did listen to the book in its entirety, not because it got better, but I didn’t need my attention off the road and I couldn’t pull over. Since I did read it completely it was only fair that not to return it, but I will pay closer attention to listening to that sample as the narrator can make or break even a good story,

very cute and easy to listen to.

I enjoyed listening to it while I'm cooking or doing other things it's mildly entertaining and cute... not too serious and the reader is good!

Great

I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything I was looking for (inspiration, romance, humor). I will be listening to more books in this series.

Narrator is hard to listen to

I’m about halfway through this, super predictable. However I may need to just bail on this, she pronounces “Bec” like BACK. “Bed” = bad. I’m listening thinking she said Back and referring to the main character, it’s just weird! Oh, “guess” = GAS. Update: I cringed through to the end.....cannot listen to any more of these books narrated by Amy McFadden. The Beck character sounds like a prude old lady, not the character at all. The Savannah character's voice.....so cringe. I am sad because the story was not horrible. But narrator ruined it. Blechhhhhhh I was talking out loud to myself and mocking her, then laughing.

Great story line

I loved the wholesome of the story and I have each of the books in my wishlist.

At times, the narrator's voice was a bit to much to take but I got over by that and allowed myself to be immersed in Coconut Keys.

Entertaining

Enjoyed the twists and turns which mimicked some real life in our modern times. The characters were often so real and refreshing.

Narrator good but Director fair.

The narration was professionally done but I feel the tone she was directed to convey was too snarky.
