First published in 1949 and praised in the New York Times Book Review as "full of beauty and vigor and bite", A Sand County Almanac combines some of the finest nature writing since Thoreau with an outspoken and highly ethical regard for America's relationship to the land. As the forerunner to such important books as Annie Dillard's Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, Edward Abbey's Desert Solitaire, and Robert Finch's The Primal Place, this classic work remains as relevant today as it was more than 70 years ago.

The narration was nice. This was a short, pleasant read and I’m glad Barbara Kingsolver is promoting it. This is rightfully compared to Thoreau’s writing.

Lovely look at nature

I've read this book several times before, the first over 60 years ago. As always, it is a moving look at nature through one of the earliest Ecologist's eyes. I enjoyed Barbara Kingsolver's introduction. I especially enjoyed the reader's presentation. She has a very pleasant voice that is easy to listen to. Plus, her voice is always clear and easy understand.

I "read" many books using Audible because I can listen while driving, working in my house and garden. From my childhood, I've always enjoyed being read but, I still read printed and digital books.

Aldo Leopold's book is always worth another read!

A classic, important work read with astonishing clarity and interpretation. Even though I have held what I thought was a reasonable appreciation for our natural world, this presentation reawakened me to the glory of our land and the importance of revisiting my duty to better understand and care for it. 🥰

Too much, too late

This a wonderful book. The narrator sounds an awful lot like Schitt’s Creek’s Moira Rose at times.

Is that Moira Rose narrating?

Love this book and it’s contents. However I paid for this audiobook and it does not include the sketches here and there. Why pay for a book if you don’t get the whole thing!! Very dissatisfied with Amazon.
