Great WWII Spy Trilogy, book 3

This is third novel in the series and last on Audible. It features Kurt Mueller, the loyal German Officer who betrays his country in order to destroy the Nazis. While each novel stands on its own, reading the series in order is recommended.

The story begins with Mueller and his family living with his mother in Ireland. Actually Kurt's back from a dangerous mission, hoping to acquire leave to see his family. But the successes of his first two missions has all but insured he will be deployed without leave, perhaps to the end of the war. Then he receives a postcard from Hamburg. In order to save his family Kurt goes awol.

The action and suspense is nonstop. What makes it believable is the historical fact that the German Army and police were politically splintered between regular police and army, SS, and Gestapo. Mueller is German and uniquely equipped to manipulate these factions in order to complete his missions.

Wonderfully written and narrated, Postcard From Hamburg is a must read.

excellent!

I loved this whole series and Gildart Jackson does a wonderful job narrating. If you like WWII Era spy thrillers then JJ Toners Black Orchestra series is a must read!

Another provocative thriller from JJ Toner

Another provocative thriller from JJ Toner. Continuing the adventures of Kurt Muller, A Postcard from Hamburg explores both physical and psychological effects of war.

From the flattening of Hamburg to the individual choices that result in lives and souls changed or lost, this novel kept me gripped while listening, and thinking about the character’s situation ever since – which I’m sure will continue for some time.

Has the human race learned anything from history? After listening to this, I’m really not sure that we have. A must read.
