Creating Their Family for Sabrina . . .

Topher Duvall is the lead singer of the heavy metal band, Metalsome. Once he found out about Sabrina, he has loved her more than anything else in his life. Her legal guardian, Melissa Edwards, also adores his daughter, Sabrina. But when the deceased mother’s horrible parents want to become involved, both Topher and Melissa know how toxic they are and how Ione never wanted them to get anywhere near her daughter. So to protect Sabrina, Topher and Melissa agree to get married to each other and become her legal family. Things will not be easy as they fight for the daughter they love and want to keep safe. Will their new family hold together? Will they begin to truly fall in love with each other? Or will the grandparents find a way to destroy the family they have become? The narrator for the audiobook version is Cassandra Medcalf who does a great job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize the reader with the characters, and is a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.

Metalsome Affair!

I was completely captivated by this story. I did listen to the audio and the narration was great! Really brings the characters and their story to life. The story is about Topher, Melissa and Sabrina. Melissa has adopted her friends daughter and sworn to protect her. Sabrina's biological mom and the rockstar Topher were a couple. One that were very bad for each other but produced a lovely daughter, one he had no knowledge of. Now, that she has died, Melissa has the duty to introduce Sabrina to her dad. When Sabrina is threatened and at risk, Topher and Melissa will do anything to protect her; even a marriage of convenience. I enjoyed this story and loved how supportive the band was. Such a good read/listen!! I love the main characters and the band members.

Topher + Melissa and Sabrina #Metalsomeleadsinger

The audible book brings the book to life and is narrated by Cassandra Medcalf. Typically, the audiobook is not as good if only one narrator reads for both the male and female voices. That is not the case with Cassandra Medcalf. I enjoyed her projection of both male and female characters' voices, which were unique in the reading. I highly recommend not only reading the book Metalsome Affair: A Marriage of Convenience, Opposites Attract, Rock Star Romance: Metalsome Rock, Book 2, but also listening to the audiobook narrated by Cassandra Medcalf. The story centers around Topher Duvall, the lead singer of the heavy metal band Metalsome, his daughter's adopted parent, Melissa Edwards, and his daughter, Sabrina, whom he didn't know existed. The story's gist is the relationship between Topher and Melissa and how it affects Sabrina. Their road is riddled with sinkholes and old wounds that left scars plaguing their newfound family. Katie Baldwin's Metalsome Rock series of 3 books rock in all ways that make for good reading.

Building a Family in the Face of Adversity

The whole rock-star romance trope isn't my typical reading jam, but I am trying different romance subgenres in audiobook format to see how I like them, as I love audiobooks. I wasn't wild about all the profanity in this book, including by the heroine. Yes, I get where it's more realistic for the rock-star hero and his bandmates to have potty mouths, but give our heroines a little class, puh-leaze! The story focuses on the hero learning he has a young daughter and figuring out how that fits into his life. His ex-girlfriend never told him she was pregnant. The heroine is the child's adoptive mother and was his ex-girlfriend's best friend. The ex-girlfriend is now deceased. So, the central thrust of the story is to figure out how he will make a family with his little girl and her mom and how he's going to protect the child from a rather predatory grandmother and her husband (the ex-girlfriend's stepfather), who is a child molester. Given the somewhat convoluted connections, it felt like the hero and heroine fell for each other a bit too quickly and not quite believably. The predatory grandma is a very dark character. I don't like characters that are so black-and-white; I wish she had more shades to her character. The secondary characters, like the little girl and the bandmates, are fantastic. I loved how the guys in the band nearly felt like brothers, and they were really there for each other with understanding, compassion, and some humor. While the book certainly had some elements I wasn't wild about, this is actually a pretty decent rock-star romance. If that's your particular reading jam, you may very well enjoy this one.

One of my favorite rockstar romances

I loved this book so much! It is so well written and the way that Katie described the Metalsome band members was perfect!

Another thing I loved was how all of the guys care for Melissa. The way they took care of her when she was sick was so sweet! 🥰

One of my favorite quotes from "Metalsome Affair" was this one from chapter 6;
"But wait, they had been talking about something, what was it? "Yeah," she said because what the he🏒🏒 was she supposed to say? He had blinded her with his hotness!"

I also have a copy of "Metalsome Hearts" waiting in my Bookfunnel library and will definitely be reading it soon! 🙂

ARC Review

I loved this! An adopted mother and a bio-dad come together for the child's best interest in this romantic tale. Both main characters had their own traumas to overcome.

I thought the narration was very well done and really brought the story to life. this was a 10/10 for me!

For the love of a little girl

A heartfelt story with some tough real life issues that were handled in such a way that made this an excellent story.
Topher, a singer in a famous rock band and Melissa, the guardian of the 8 year old daughter he has just found out about are an unlikely couple.
This is their story of overcoming the evil that is lurking, trying to destroy what they are trying to build for the little girl that they both love.
I had not read book one and could follow the story easily but in saying that I enjoyed this one so much that I will now be going back to read it.
With great characters and storyline I definitely recommend reading / listening to this.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration.

Topher and Melissa

In addition to Topher and Melissa’s romance, this story touches on the lengths a mother will go to in order to protect her child. Ione knew she was dying, and wanted to save her daughter Sabrina from her extended family’s cruelty. She had her friend Melissa adopt the little girl. Melissa introduces Sabrina to her father. To further save the child they marry. Their romance ensues from there. The story was well written, and interesting. It kept my attention engaged to the very end. The narration was well done. METALSOME ROCK

Topher and Melissa. They are totally different. Topher has a daughter he didnt know about with Ione who is now deceased. Sabrina reached out to him by email. She has been adopted by Iones friend and confidant. They try to come to figure out how to share Sabrina. Then Iones parents find out about her and they try to get her. Ione was very specific about her daughter never ever knowing them or being left alone with them. This is story of love, opposites attracting, preseverence, and unlikly families. You may not be able to choose your family but the family you pick will always be there for you. I loved this story so much and was well performed in audible. So much more to this story its a must listen.
