Publisher's summary

My name is Zoe Lane, and I see dead people.

Over the last year, I have confronted criminals, solved murders, saved lives, had multiple brushes with death, looked into the eyes of a serial killer, and stared down the barrel of a gun. I thought I knew stress. I thought wrong.

In all my life, I have never experienced anything as stressful as the pickup zone at Trucker Middle School. There are kids everywhere, people are honking and cursing, and a mom in a minivan just flipped me the bird because I didn’t pull my car up fast enough. These parents would lay off the horn if they knew what was at stake. I'll bet none of them have a ghost sitting next to them, nor are they in charge of picking up the ghost's still living child.

Yet here I am with Dr. Connie Batch. This morning, she blasted into my room, having just been killed by an unidentified man in a mask. She's afraid her husband and son could be next. Now it’s my job to find the killer and protect her family before anyone else dies — including me.

Also, has anyone seen my cat?

Great Fun Read

I more or less binge listened to this series over the past few days. I re-listened to the first 2 and then listened to the remaining 4. Zoe is a fun character, and her adventures are now taking her outside her "comfort" zone of Fern Valley. Her relationship with Mike is key to these books, and I am thankful that was established early on. Here is what I would love in future books: (1) Mature Zoe a bit (less b-b-but, etc.); (2) I would like Mike voiced less as a surfer dude and more as the hunky boyfriend he is; and (3) I would love to see Zoe develop and interact with a circle of friends. None of this is to say these are not fun reads, just looking for some character development. I am so looking forward to Book 7.

I’m really enjoying this series

Erin Huss has crafted an original storyline with well developed characters and locations. Emily Wilson, as always, gives a wonderful performance as she brings the characters to life with their own distinct voices. I’m enjoying this series and look forward to the next one. I highly recommend this book/audiobook to cozy mystery fans.
