narrator YELLS!
I don't usually complain about narration. It's usually just a difference of preference. This narrator though... whenever anyone in a story raises their voice or gets excited YELLS, even when it doesn't fit the scene at all. I'm still gonna finish the book but my god, is it BAD.

31 examples of Ray Bradbury’s storytelling
A Medicine for Melancholy and other stories is a collection of 31 Ray Bradbury stories narrated by Kirby Heyborne. Last year I was introduced to the Ray Bradbury challenge, read one short story, one poem, and one essay every night, and to write one short story per week. Listening to these 31 stories I was struck by the variety of the content and the writing of each story. These were an excellent example of how one writer can produce some stories that were excellent and others that were just entertaining. Overall, I loved the listening experience these 31 stories and Kirby’s excellent narration skills that brought the collection to life.

Some gems, some slow, all good writing
This collection has some real gems, but they don't show up until about halfway in. The opening stories, to me, were slow and disappointing. I felt like they were more descriptions of moments than they were stories with an arc. But later in the collection, he seems to hit a stride, particularly with the sci fi ones, one or two of which are in the Martian Chronicles.
Regardless, the stories are well written, and each one dissects or depicts some deep aspect of human thought.
The reader is amazing. Really! He was fantastic.
So, my recommendation is to read the Martian Chronicles first, and then, if you're really craving more, check this out, but keep your expectations low, particularly for the first half.

Fun stories, bad audio
Some of the stories were great, but the narrator was annoyingly loud on parts, like way over dramatic…and about 2 hours before the end the audio started going quiet and loud, quiet and loud, all the way to the end! And I checked, it wasn’t my phone or earbuds.
