Publisher's Summary

Felix and Lane are trying out their new normal. Normal means no more car chases, no more drug lords, and definitely no more kidnapping bad guys. All of that is a thing of the past in this new, normal(ish) life style filled with family get-togethers, torturous jogs through the park, and the occasional romp in the parking lot. Felix is done stealing (all but for the cat). He is actually enjoying the boring side of life, especially with Lane by his side doing what he does best: looking handsome. But when Felix's brother wants to repair their relationship, he brings with him a secret that could cost all of them their lives.

Lane isn't complaining because the thrills of life-threatening situations are right up his alley. They may think they have a handle on the situation, but what they do not know is that someone has been working them from the shadows. Forcing them to do exactly what he wants as he drives them closer to his sick game of life and death.

Join Felix and Lane in a race against time, their only weapons being their humor and their wit.

This series only gets more hilariously amazing!

First of all....how to opine about Joel Leslie? He is an amazing narrator and the banter back and forth that is essential in this series is right up his alley. The first book is very action packed and the plot is convoluted due to deep undercover and police corruption issues. The second book is much more domesticated, same page, and too curious for their own good sort of tale. I loved the sarcasm, continued expansion of family members closeness and even possible future spawn (gasp!) the story meanders wonderfully and then gets Super Dramatic for the last few hours. Be prepared to want to yell at the characters as they awkwardly go out to investigate alone the equivalent of “what’s that noise?” in a horror movie and confront obvious villains.

Laughing and then completely freaked out.

Felix and Lane are back, just as entertaining and crazy as before. Well, Felix has the handle on the crazy- he cracks me up. But he also makes me cry, what a life he had before Lane. And we get to see more of that life in this book, a whole lot more. His childhood and home life was heartbreaking. I'm so glad he has Lane on his side now, because he needed him more than ever.
This book went from humourous to heartbreaking, to causing all kinds of anxiety.
Ms. Winters really had me on edge. I'd be laughing at Felix's antics with Lane one minute, and the next I'd be stressing out. And that last hour had to have been the most harrowing hour of a book I've listened to thus far. I was so tempted to just speed through it, to get to the end, but I held off. But my God, talk about creeped out and freaked out. Poor Felix!
But I was so impressed with him, he really persevered and showed us what he's made of and what a big heart he has- I just love him.

Joel Leslie really brough his A game with this one. I mean, he was fantastic as always, but that last hour or so- man. He had me feeling EVERYTHING Felix was going through. I swear my heart was in my throat the entire time. He brought the creep factor and had me living the anxiousness right along with Felix. What an awesome job.

Awesome!

I love, love, love this series! Joel Leslie's performance was, as always, perfection. Felix and Lane may be my favorite couple of all time and I loved getting to see their relationship after a little time has passed. Their back and forth is hilarious and makes the tender moments that much sweeter.

Plot not as good as book 1

I love Felix and Lane. Their banter alone can bring me back and Joel Leslie's narration is superb. That being said - and without giving much away - for me, the plot was unconvincing and rather lacking.

Funny!

The plot isn't very creative or unique but I found this book very funny and entertaining, my 5 stars is quite generous but I still recommend listening to the book, you'll have a few good laughs if nothing else.

Please tell me there will be more!

MM romance, check. Mystery/suspense, check. Snarky, smart alecky, adorable main characters, check. Tear inducing sweet and touching moments, check. Smexy times, check.
This series is fabulous! I don’t know why I was expecting the bad guy to be anyone other than who it turned out to be, but there you have it.
These books are so good. I don’t want to let Lane and Felix go. Though the first book is a HFN, this one definitely has a HEA. But I’d still love to read more from these characters. The emotions were more solid in this one, which I would expect from a more established couple. I went from laughter to tears pretty quickly in some places. Seriously, I am sure I’ll be listening to these over and over.
Please, Ms. Winters, if you read your reviews, please let this series continue!

As good as the first book

As with the first book, this is a hidden gem. Exciting action, good relationship and I found myself laughing out loud many many times. There’s a psychological thriller element to this book too, but despite the fact that I’m not a fan of being scared, I loved it and found it exciting. This is so much better than the usual boring trope out there, and it’s refreshing to have a proper plot that hooks me so much that I listen to it all on my headphones in one day. Hope there’s more from this author on Audible soon because the two books from this series have been fantastic.

Felix and Lane kick psychopath ass!

Another triumph from Alice Winters. Felix and Lane are as snarky and sassy as ever and this acts as a perfect counterpoint to the Darkness of the story. Wonderfully narrated by the amazing Joel Leslie, he's one of my favourite narrators because if his versatility and range. Loved every second.

Brilliant sequel

Wonderfully exciting story again. The pace picks up towards the ends so dramatically and I just couldn’t stop listening. I had to know what happens next to Felix and Lane.
Exceptional narration by Joel Leslie. He has the ability to enhance the moment increasing the mood so you can visualise and feel what is going on.
Definitely on my listen again list.
I do hope Alice Winters has more books planned and Joel will narrate them.

Brilliant sequel!

I had so much fun listening to this 😀 The story is original and interesting, the dialogue witty and the feelings between Felix and Lane are perfect - love, snark sprinkled with humour.
The icing on the cake is Joel Leslie's performance! He is the perfect choice for Felix and Lane (and the others). He does a great job with the sly humour, funny lines and the suspense.
I absolutely loved the story and narration, the only spot on an otherwise perfect book, is the overuse of 'he says', 'I say'. (Not enough to detract from my enjoyment).

Great second book

I absolutely adore Lane and Felix!
This second book is best enjoyed after reading the first but not essential it can be read as a stand alone, however I feel to really appreciate the relationship between Lane and Felix you would benefit by reading the books in order.
The snarky, sarcastic humour between the two MC’s is just my cup of tea and had me belly laughing.
Having a disability myself I know how important it is to be able retain a sense of humour without offending anyone and I feel the author Alice Winters, achieved this perfectly.
As for Joel Leslie, his narration was sublime! He was Lane and Felix, his comedic timing and performance was just what was needed for these two characters and I couldn’t imagine anyone else narrating this series of books.

Entertaining

I love books that can make me laugh out loud. Mission accomplished! So entertaining and such interesting fun characters. I wish there were more books like this. I am a bit sick of the same old vapid pathetic stories. I loved the combination of comedy, action and romance. The narration was so easy to listen to, I could see these characters so clearly. Thank you. I hope these two get to carry on with more entertaining adventures.
