He was worth a second look.

Fun historical romance in the mid 1800’s. Serenity and her brother immigrated from Wales and moved to a small valley where she met Jonathan. He seemed a little boring, not like Ivanhoe in her book. As she got to know him better she realized he was so much more. There was a fun side story of her horse racing and also a story of young rapscallions causing problems in town. She discovered Jonathan was much more of a hero than she originally thought.

A fun and entertaining read

I enjoyed reading this story, and found it very uplifting. I was very surprised by Jonathan finding his brother. I didn’t expect that person to be the one.

Excellent Story & Narration

Delightful memories of the authors past , she has again woven into a story for us. A woman who know what she wants.
A brother who is concern she hadn’t t found a husband.
A friendship she had, but didn’t think he was that special one.
Great story and with excellent narration.

Excellent and Fun Story!

I've read a lot of Linda's books, and I'm always happy I did. What a treat this book was, great story, loved Serenity and her boldness. Narrator did a great job, and it was a very enjoyable experience. Need more books like this in the world :)
Definitely recommend :)

My review

One of the reasons I enjoy books by Linda Weaver Clarke is that her stories are always clean, fun, and full of adventure. In this book Serenity moves from Wales to America much to her aunt’s dismay, Serenity is full of grit and wants more. Serenity’s brother best friend Jonathon wants to get to know Serenity better, so he tells Jonathon to join a class that she teaches, however I think that is the only good advice he gives Jonathon. Despite it all, the chemistry grows between Jonathon and Serenity. It is neat to see how Jonathon grows more confident and outgoing as the story unfolds.

The narrator did a wonderful job with the accents. It was quite enjoyable!

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author. These are my own and honest opinions.

Wonderful book

Another sweet and clean and definitely enjoyable book by Linda Weaver Clarke. I love the cover and have to admit, the look of a cover really influences my first thoughts of a book. The narrator was a talented speaker as she told the sweet story.

I love how the author weaves her ancestors' stories into her fiction. What a wonderful way to preserve your ancestors' stories while writing an engaging and interesting story. I loved the way the character of Jonathon grew throughout the story and how he learned to impress the woman he was hoping to court. I loved how Serenity was not as "refined" as her Welsh auntie had hoped for her to be.

It's a great story and I am so happy to have read it. I enjoyed it so much!

I received an Audible copy from the author without being required to give a positive review.. All thoughts are my own.

Historical Romance

A Lady of Refinement is Book 2 of the Women of Courage by Linda Weaver Clarke. I thought that this was an enjoyable story. Serenity has immigrated from Wales to join her brother, William, in America. I found Serenity to be a well read lady who wants to find her "hero". Jonathan wants to be her gentleman, but, Serenity finds him to be to quiet. I enjoy historical fiction and the author has captured the flavor of 1844. Linda Weaver Clarke writes strong ladies and interesting stories. I find this series is excellent. I received a code for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
