Empowering Females
I loved this book. Yes, I knew how it was going to end. But I enjoyed the characters who are believable. The protagonist is a strong, determined woman during the antebellum period. Her intelligent parents encouraged Josephine, Jojo. I will miss reading it.

Beautiful and Engaging
What a wonderful story. The story line and the narration was superb. It is great to hear a story during the Civil War time that is positive and uplifting for for Black people. It speaks to deep family roots, connection, and is heart warming. Loved it.

The narration for this project was great. The story was sluggish. The plot was a bit dull at first, but eventually the characters built on each other to create an enjoyable story.
