Aladdin Factor rendition sucked

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Having owned the book of Aladdin Factor (such a touching and amazing book) the audiobook copy of it was abysmal. It was condensed enough to become boring meaningless dribble that was a pain to get through, each concept was only touched on for a tiny bit of time, without ever getting into the depths of the concept enough for it to sink in, just nifty little anecdotes that didn't do anything justice. If you are wanting to listen to Aladdin Factor DO NOT GET THE ABRIDGED COPY.

The Dare to Win side was the complete oposite. Aladdin Factor is a book comprised of anecdotes that drill home a message, whereas Dare to Win is about the authors personal lesson and much more a book along the lines of Think and Grow Rich and the like. That being said, that content of Dare to Win fitted real well into the abridged form and the result was a highly motivating and moving short rendition. Highly worth it.

OK content, but delivery insulting

Would you try another book from Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen and/or Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen ?

Probably not.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen again?

Not if they are narrating it. They're just awful.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen ?

No idea, but someone who is a professional reader.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

The book is far too repetitious, but that would be bearable were it not for the sophomoric reading skills of those two guys. They seem to be in love with their delivery, and they seem to think they have to put great emotion into words that speak just fine for themselves.

Truly motivating and a real pleasure to listen

Listening to the voices of Jack Canfield and Mark Hansen was a real pleasure. A truly inspiring and motivating book and I would say - it really touches you deeper when you are listening to it in comparison to reading. And it is actually a very nice bonus that there are two motivation books (Alladin Factor and Dare to Win) included in one audiobook. Very many thanks indeed and really recommended.

Just a minor comment for future improvements - would probably be great to see the names of the chapters provided in the audiobook format.

Too Pantomime - Sorry Jack!

Would you try another book written by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen or narrated by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen ?

First of all I love Jack Canfield and avidly tune into various videos. Unfortunately though I found the first book - Aladdin Factor far too pantomine in its delivery. The messages are good but the Aladdin voice was irritating in the extreme and I found the book a little monotonous. 'Dare to Win' was significantly better fortunately.

Has A Healthy Dose of Motivation: 'The Aladdin Factor' and 'Dare to Win' put you off other books in this genre?

Not at all, Jack Canfield is one of my favourite motivational speakers but the Aladdin Factor just didn't do him justice at all, far too gimmicky.

What aspect of Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen ’s performance might you have changed?

I found myself wanting to skip chapters and finding parts of the book very repetitive. Perhaps that's because I listened all in one sitting (a very long car journey), but I wouldn't rush back to reread them. Canfield has a lot of excellent material, I think these are on the fringes of this.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Healthy Dose of Motivation: 'The Aladdin Factor' and 'Dare to Win'?

Aladdin! While the analogy works ok to get the point across, the concept 'ask to receive' I felt this was overplayed, over simplistic and irritating.

Any additional comments?

The second book, Dare to Win, is much better than the former and if you buy them both together I'd suggest skipping through chapters of the first. I'd still err towards other publications by Canfield, he has some fabulous ideas and philosophy but these books just don't really show him in his best light.

Good for those just starting out

I liked the book but have heard most of the ideas and principles before. It would be good for someone just starting out on self improvement and needing motivation.
