Publisher's Summary

Savid DelaCrotia, leader of Princess Brona’s Shadows, finds himself facing multiple threats to the Kingdom of Montshire. The return of his horrifically changed friend and battle buddy, Ash Newberry, is almost the least of his worries as a traitor is revealed close to home just as a conspiracy on Montshire’s valuable coastline leads him far from Haven. Once again Savid finds himself a vulnerable game piece in the deadly politics of the king’s court at the worst possible time. Only with the support of his skilled and deadly team can he hope to survive long enough to protect his Princess and her kingdom from threats both far away and near at hand. But Monsthire’s many enemies would do well to remember that shadows abound in both the brightest of light and the darkest night.

twists and turns all around another good book by J

John Conroe is typically defined as a man who writes a book about werewolves or vampires or any other list of supernatural creatures this series is one where you have a little of that but it's more about people and it's very interesting series with your time.

Fantastic

This is a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable book and 2 book series. The plot and plot devices are diverse and interesting. I found the whole experience very immersive, very hard to put down. The characters are interesting and the world is intriguing. I was drawn to the characters and found an emotional connection to them. The narration was excellent and kept me totally engaged. A wonderful experience!

nice addition

I'm interested to see where this series will go with the following books. Will it be continual war or empire building.

story telling, always, good, now excellent

Mr. Conroy in the Demon Accords has perhaps written into some tight corners...the only ways out to keep proliferating perspectives, additional big threats. In this sequel to a new series...not High Fantasy nor Urban...but something else, his control over language, plotting, and character development grows and deepens. What a pleasure. He taps into some familiar story patterns but having those work subtlety for him, not the bald formulaic writing of lesser writers who lean on such mythic patterns as a crutch. Whenever the next in the series comes out I'll set aside all other books to hear what comes next.

Great second book

I have read all of Conroe’s books. His series are all great but this series is one of his best. I can’t wait for book 3. It took a second for me to get the names and places straight in my head. After I did I couldn’t put it down!

As expected!

Expectation met! a great continuation from the first book, it's short but sweet. I waited almost a year for this and it's over in a flash, good story and character depth, hooked me from the first minute until the last. Looking forward to the next book, hope it's longer. JC and JPC...perfect combinations.
