THE BOOK BEHIND THE FOURTH SEASON OF GAME OF THRONES, AN ORIGINAL SERIES NOW ON HBO.

Here is the fourth book in the landmark series that has redefined imaginative fiction and become a modern masterpiece.

A FEAST FOR CROWS

After centuries of bitter strife, the seven powers dividing the land have beaten one another into an uneasy truce. But it’s not long before the survivors, outlaws, renegades, and carrion eaters of the Seven Kingdoms gather. Now, as the human crows assemble over a banquet of ashes, daring new plots and dangerous new alliances are formed while surprising faces—some familiar, others only just appearing—emerge from an ominous twilight of past struggles and chaos to take up the challenges of the terrible times ahead. Nobles and commoners, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and sages, are coming together to stake their fortunes . . . and their lives. For at a feast for crows, many are the guests—but only a few are the survivors.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Of those who work in the grand epic-fantasy tradition, Martin is by far the best. . . . This is as good a time as any to proclaim him the American Tolkien.”Time

“A fantasy series for hip, smart people, even those who don’t read fantasy.” Detroit Free Press

“[A] once-in-a-generation work of fiction that manages to entertain readers while elevating an entire genre to fine literature.”Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

“These are the best heroic fantasies I’ve ever read—layered, complex, true to the characters, real as the bloodiest of real life is, and stunningly, fascinatingly page-turning. . . . Amazing stuff.”—Jeff VanderMeer, The New Your Review of Science Fiction

“George R. R. Martin has created the unlikely genre of the realpolitik fantasy novel. Complete with warring kings, noble heroes and backroom dealings, it’s addictive reading and reflects our current world a lot better than The Lord of the Rings.”Rolling Stone

“THE MOST impressive modern fantasy, both in terms of conception and execution, is George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. . . . A masterpiece that will be mentioned with the great works of fantasy.”Contra Costa Times

Arya and Danaerys all the sudden sound exactly like asha, and tbh that’s the worst voice he had in his arsenal.

Why the voice changes?

First the names. Consistancy in name pronunciation is key in narrating audio books. There were some of these in book 1, but this is the absolute worst of the series. I had to pause the book, because I thought I had downloaded another narrator that sounded very much like Roy. Some voices are different. For me, I can understand this with so many characters. If the names were consistent it wouldn't have been so bothersome. The names are better in the next book.

Now, why don't I hear from my favorite characters very much? Well, Martin has expressed that books 4 and 5 were really supposed to be one book. As he went on with writing, the book just continued to get longer and longer. He had missed several deadlines. Fans were getting impatient, as we are now for book 6. It was supposed to just be A Dance with Dragons. He made the design to split the book instead of having one outrageously long book or cutting hundreds of pages. He chose to split the book more geographically; covering more of the events of Kings Landing and Westeros, and saving the wall, south of the wall, and Daenerys and her dragon for the book to be titled A Dance with Dragons. From that we can gather that the events are actually happening simultaneously. This explains the lack of presence for several key characters in book 4. And here I am still patiently awaiting book 6. Will it happen? I certainly hope so. I truly hope that Roy will also narrate it for us. After so many hours spent listening to his narration, I just can't imagine finishing out the series with anyone else.

Names, why we don't see favorite characters much.

writing is quite good as usual, performance is well done tho only two to three voices are changed which matter little to me. Some names are missed, pronounced, but only for a few chapters.

vwey good
