Welcome to Oxford’s Magic Kitten Shelter for Familiars!

My name’s Astra. I’m single, love familiars, and am also a witch whose demon cat has more magical ability in his paw, than I have in my entire body. When I inherit my great-aunt’s ramshackle mansion in the sleepy village, Witch Hollow, which nestles in Oxford's shadow, I seize the chance to break free from my family. Even if Witch Hollow is the most paranormal village in England...

Now, along with my black kitten, Satan (angel on the outside, devil on the inside), I’ll show everyone that a new witch is in town.

Yet the opening event of my new business to rehome abandoned familiars ends with a witch’s death. When the hot Earl Sin, a dragon shifter and my elite neighbour, turns out to be the supernatural Sheriff of Oxford, how can I prove that I’m innocent and also save my familiars?

love this book

This book is so much fun. I adore cozy mysteries and this book is amazing. I read and listened to the audiobook, it reminded me why I love this type of book.
I need to thank the great Satan (the cat) for the information on how to get my own familiar 😉.
The storyline is great and the mystery is fun, I can't wait to listen to the next one.

SO adorable

i really love Astra Satan and SIn. A Familiar Murder is so funny with all the demon familiars causing some sort of Chaos. and then we have the murder which Astra and Sin and with the Help of Satan have to solve before Astra's adoption center gets closed down.

Such a fun story!

This book is so fun. Yes it's a mystery, but Astra has some great lines and can just be silly at times. I do love Satan. He is hilarious with the things he says and believes. I really enjoyed the concept of the book with the familiars and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The narrators do a really great job and kept me wanting to listen.

Loved the narration.

Honestly, the narration made this story so much funnier. Satan is the best and I absolutely
loved all of his interactions with Astra, Son, and just everyone. I will say I am an American so I can’t really speak to authenticity of the accents but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So much fun

I love Satan so much! He was the most adorable and devious familiar. I enjoyed getting some of the book from his PoV. Astra was also really great and her bond with her familiar was really cute. I can’t wait to see how this bond plays in the stories more. I’m also excited for a certain silver dragon to show up more in the series. This was a fun cozy mystery in a crazy town with characters I loved getting to know. Can’t wait to see what other mischief these characters are going to get up to.

Absolutely Amazing, Awesome, Phenomenal Story

A Familiar Murder is Book 1 of the Oxford Magic Kitten Mysteries series by Rosemary A. Johns. As usual, Rosemary brings this story to life. The world building is superb and the character development is phenomenal (especially Satan, Astra and Sin). You just can't help falling in love with them, especially Satan. It is a laugh-out-loud story especially from Satan's point of view. I would love to have a talking kitty like Satan (Be warned Astra, I would steal him from you if I could). Being able to get lost in this fantastic story is a journey everyone should make. I highly recommend it. I am anxious for the next book in this series to see what Rosemary has in store for our three intrepid characters. Fran Bonner and James Neeson are awesome narrators. They brought this book to live and placed the listener in the middle of the story.
