Not that bad!!

After seeing these reviews, I was really scared to listen to this. I loved the first 2 books SO MUCH! Jennifer Ikeda ruled. Why the switch!? I wish she had kept going, and I don't know why they chose someone new, but honestly? Once I got over being pissed off, it wasn't that bad! I mean, Amanda is no Jennifer, but I think she did her best. The characters were good. Lucien's brothers were fantastically evil. I just miss the overall tone of Jennifer as Feyre. I felt like I got to know her, and now it was like a completely different person.

And since this book is over 25 hours long, how were people writing reviews THE FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT!? I don't think half those people even gave the new narrator a chance. They couldn't have had the time to listen to it. So. I admit, it took a while for her to find her stride, I think, but once I got past my initial shock and dismay, and I started listening to the story itself? I was still interested, and I was still moved.

Chapter 44 - with all the high lords? And that scene with the cliff? Oh - and Lord Grayson scene with Elaine???? Come on. It was good. Admit it. Of course, you have to listen that far.

It probably sucks to step into such a popular series, so I say job well done -- even if I wish Jennifer was still doing it....

Loved it, despite new narrator (give her a chance)

I'll admit, I had a difficult time getting into this one (but loved it none-the-less). The new narration was just so different from Jennifer Ikeda -- for Feyre and Rhysand particularly. However, about a quarter of the way through, I was over it and just enjoying the story itself. Cobb did a really amazing job with the thrilling last half of the book in particular. Knowing that we have some character-focused novellas and novels coming up in the series, I know she'll do a great job with them (she nailed Cassian, Nesta, Amren, and Mor, I thought). looking forward to more Maas books narrated by Cobb (or Ikeda should she come back to the series). The fandom should definitely not fear this one. It's a great listen!

Narrator Change Didn't Ruin It

I loved the first two books in the series and was looking forward to this one when I noticed that the narrator was different. I generally hate when there is a narrator change in a series told from the same perspective, especially if you are binge listening. It tends to be so distracting that it can ruin it. Luckily this narrator sounded almost identical to the previous one and did an equally excellent job. I might not have even known they were different narrators. That being said, it was a great end to a great series, well worth the listen!

Jennifer Ikeda declined to continue with theseries

I contacted Recorded books Inc. and they said via email that Jennifer Ikeda decline to continue with the series. :(

I don't like the new narrator, but we may have no choice to get used to her.

This is by far my favorite series of all time. I will probably re listen to the first 2 books and only read the last book. I am SO disappointed that they changed the narrator for the last book. it honestly shouldn't be allowed in book series...... PLEASE RE DO THIS!!!!

Narrator NOT terrible. Just different.

I agree. I wish Jennifer Ikeda finished this series. But I don't think Amanda Leigh Cobb was terrible. She was just very different.

After I got over my initial frustration, I really started listening to the story itself. By the time I got to the battle and the story line with Nesta's arc? I was hooked. The scenes with Elaine are heartbreaking. I also loved Lucien's journey. And I caught myself aching for Mor during her . . . confession. (No spoilers!!)

For me, this one was less about Feyre and Rhys and more about the other characters. My heart was absolutely broken for Tamlin who I STILL think got screwed in this entire story, but that's just my opinion. I fall into the "Go, Tamlin! camp" because I don't think his actions were necessarily any more abusive than Rhys's actions under the mountain -- Anyway.

Give the STORY a chance. New narrator doesn't deserve to be raked across the coals for a decision that was not hers to make. I still enjoyed it!!!!!

Narrator

I missed hearing Jennifer Ikeda's voice in this. I like having the same narrator throughout a series plus she does male voices better.

love series, but ..

i love sarah j mass, love the series.....but was so disappointed when the same narrator was not used....its not tht amanda is not good....its that we already fell in love with Jeniffer narrating..and the way she did all the attitudes, the difference in voices she used in each caracter. Jennifer did awesome in capturing the different caracters, especially Rhysand . and amanda tone doesnt chnage between the caracters so makes it hard to remember who is talking. am just disappointed, hope they redo it with Jennifer voice. especially when we pay $20 for the audio and the narrator doesn't match.

Narration was just as good as the others

Many complaints about a new narrator... I couldn't even tell. As expected, the book was very good.

New narrator, no worries.

I've actually never written an audible review before, but felt compelled to do so in this instance as I believe the bashing of the Narrator is unwarranted. Yes, Jennifer Ikeda did a terrific job on the previous two books. I am as disappointed as you guys. However, I don't believe Amanda Leigh Cobb deserves the negative reviews of her performance. Of course it is different from Jennifer's, they are different humans. But, it doesn't make it bad performance by any means. I hope you give it a chance, because after the first part of the book, I hardly remembered that there had even been a change and was as into the writing as ever.

I love this book , but bad move changing narrator

The thing I love about the audio books is how invested you get in the voices, emotive ways they speak etc. To change the voice in the final book... it caused me to loose all dedication to the characters. I tried but couldn't finish. I now won't buy one if the voice changed during any series. bad move :(

Ferocious

In this book, everything goes to Shite for Tamlin as a result of Feyre's scheming and it is sad that she draws Lucien into her schemes as I feel he did not deserve what she did to him.

This trilogy has been one of the very best books I have ever listened to. I actually went through one night without any sleep just listening to it. My partner is fed up with my ear pods being constantly in.

This series has been one of love and loss; of peace and war; of what might have been and what could be. Such imagination; such passion and such sadness that this is the last book.

Will take all of you

After the cliffhanger ending of A Court of Mist ad Fury, I instantly started this book.

I don't really know where to start with this review. So much happens in this book and I'm just not sure anything I can say will do this book justice. I'm going to give it a go.

Tamlin betrayed Feyre in the worst way possible and for that, she will never, ever forgive him. What she does do is return to the Spring Court in order to gather information in order to help the Night Court and its allies. I hadn't actually read the blurb so I was very shocked that she would go back after everything that happened. I thought Feyre was very brave to do this.

We also learn a lot about the other members of the night court in this story. I really enjoyed learning about these characters. They have so much to tell us and I feel there is so much more that they could tell us. I really hope Sarah does some novella's so that we can hear more from these. There are also quite a few shocks in this book that you DO NOT see coming. I really love it when an author shocks me and Sarah does this a few times in this book.

This was a really good ending to the main trilogy. It's a harrowing journey and it will take every part of you to get through it. However, it is worth everything you give it. I would highly recommend this series if you haven't read it.

Waaay too long

I enjoyed the first two books but was becoming quite frustrated by the third book as there was a whole lot of faffing and side stories that delayed what was, in the end, a fairly swift conclusion. There were too many characters and in the end I found it all quite confusing. I spent the last 2/3 of the book just wanting it to end so I could move on with my tbr list! Won’t be reading any sequels, I’m done!

Meh

Nowhere near as good as the last book, although the narration may have had something to do with it, the narration was just terrible! She got the emotions all wrong. Really hope they get someone else to narrate the story, as this narrator left me feeling nothing at all except irritation.

Bring back Jennifer!

Read the book first - LOVED IT, so I bought it on Audible. Looking forward to listening to it on my drive to work when I realise the characters all sound wrong. Rhysand was the most disappointing. No emotion at all! I just assumed the Narrator would be Jennifer !?! I mean why would you change Narrators through a series - right?

Why change the narrator??

I listened to the first two books one after the other and was so excited to dive into the last one until I started playing it and realised IT WAS A DIFFERENT NARRATOR! I got so used to listening to the characters in the previous narrator’s voice that it really threw me off trying to listen to the final book in a completely different voice!
