I first met Dayna Dalton (newsreporter) in another story from the Bulwark anthology but she was just a minor character there. Here, we get to see that she is a little bit more than the eye candy she played in Bulwark. Sure, she’s always had a thing for the sheriff (Clay) going back to highschool. But she’s built a career and has a drive for real journalism.
One thing I have enjoyed about these interconnected stories is the paranormal aspect. Wolves, fairy tale creatures, time travel – there’s always something magical and strange happening in the city of Bulwark. In this story, it at first looks like it might be a story that involves a wolf. But then in walks a devil with vertical slits for irises. Dayna is not sure where this will go, but she’s intrigued and wants to get fantastic story.
There is some sexuality in this story and it was done well. Dayna is a sexual person naturally and very comfortable being so. Toss in a long-held yearning for a certain man and a paranormal being who has a lot of sexytimes experience, well, you get some hot, heavy breathing. OK, a bit more than that.
The tale is a lot of fun but it wraps up really quickly. Boom, bam, thank you wham! Dayna learns a few really important things about herself, and about Bulwark. I hope we get another story about her that lets her explore this new, better informed self. 4/5 stars.
The Narration: Cathy McGowan has the perfect voice for Dayna Dalton. I like the way she gave voice to Dayna’s emotions like that deep yearning for an unrequited love, the complicated relation with her mom, and even her lust during sexytimes. There were a few other characters and each had a unique voice, tho the male character voices could use a tough more masculinity. The pacing was good & there were no technical issues. I heard only a single mispronounced word (lithe). 4.5/5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book & my opinions are 100% my own.

I recently have listened to a couple of the stories in the Bulwark Anthology so I kind of knew what to expect…I thought. The Devil & Dayna Dalton is based in the same town, Bulwark, but it was not at all what I expected. Dayna was in the other stories I listened to, and she didn’t seem to be someone who was well-liked. She was considered a tramp and no good. This is her story and it explains a lot about why she is the way she is…and where she ends up.
The narrator has good timing, she did well with the different voices, and I enjoyed the way she presented the story.
The Devil and Dayna Dalton is short. I found it interesting but some people might think it glorifies evil.

Bulwark is a small town in Georgia where weird things are always happening. In this book you are learning the story of Dayna Dalton. Dayna is a reportor in Bulwark. Her reputation or actually her mother's have sadly followed her throughout her life. Dayna was also a wild child. But really the only thing Dayna ever wanted was someone to love her unconditionally. She has a thing for the Sheriff and has had since high school. He does not feel the same for her.
As a reporter she is stuck writing fluff stories. She has been waiting on that big story. Then she is attacked by a wolf and other strange occurrences happen that really get this book moving.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I really enjoyed The Devil and Dayna Dalton. The story of Dayna Dalton and Clay Finnes was intriguing and entertaining. I liked the opposites attract of the tale and wondered throughout if they will be able to fight to be together. It was quite the adventure to be taken back to Bulwark. The book was romantic, magical, mysterious and suspenseful. There are a few scenes that was a little spooky and creepy that made me think a little bit.
I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of The Devil and Dayna Dalton. Cathy McGowan is a great job bringing this story to life. Her performance was perfect and entertaining. I believe she narrated it just the way the author was meant to be read. It is only a couple of hours long and I had no problem to continuously until I finished to the end in one day.
I am giving The Devil and Dayna Dalton four and a half stars. I would love to read more of the Bulwark Anthology, as well as, other books by Brit Lunden in the future and see where else she her imagination will take her readers. I recommend it for readers who enjoy paranormal romance.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
