Before there was Santa Claus, there was a young boy who believed in the impossible. Lemony Snicket meets Elf in this warmhearted Christmas caper.

Eleven-year-old Nikolas - nicknamed "Christmas" - has received only one toy in his life: a doll carved out of a turnip. But he's happy with his turnip doll, because it came from his parents, who love him.

Then one day his father goes missing, and Nikolas must travel to the North Pole to save him. Along the way Nikolas befriends a surly reindeer, bests a troublesome troll, and discovers a hidden world of enchantment in the frozen village of Elfhelm.

But the elves of Elfhelm have troubles of their own: Christmas spirit and goodwill are at an all-time low, and Nikolas may be the only person who can fix things - if only he can reach his father before it's too late....

Sparkling with wit and warmth, A Boy Called Christmas is a cheeky new Christmas classic in the making from acclaimed author Matt Haig.

Wonderful magical story!

My 10 year old and I loved this story! We read or listened to multiple Christmas stories this year that we enjoyed —-such as when Santa fell to the earth. But this book “A boy called Christmas” was by far our favorite. It was truly magical!!!

Phenomenal story

We absolutely loved A Boy Named Christmas! It was engaging and a beautifully written new take on an old story. My middle schooler and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

beautifully written and read exceptionally well.

this is my family's new favorite Christmas story! A very fun story with tons of verbal imagery to excite a child's mind. You won't be disappointed.

Best book!

Our whole family LOVED this book! One of our favorite audio books (and we've heard a lot). Such a fun story with an excellent narrator. Ages 6-13 and adults were all gripped by story. We can't wait to hear #2

wonderful

We loved it! We listened to a few chapters a night and my kids (10-14) always asked for "just 10 more minutes!" The narrator is wonderful - easy to understand and does great character voices.

maybe for kids

My 7-yo found this story interesting. She liked the mouse and the reindeer and that he became Santa Claus. I hated it. I didn't like the whole setup, the reason for the quest, the people, the lack of character development, the events that occurred. It took me a couple weeks to get through the interminable 4 1/2 hours of this book, and I read 4 or 5 other books while listening to this because I really didn't want to.
