Story
To solve a murder, Brady must find a copy of the world’s rarest stamp. It is a small paper square with uneven edges, dark blue in color, and bearing a smudged portrait of a long-dead king. It doesn’t look like much to Brady Coyne, but the stamp known as the Dutch Blue Error is one of a kind - a philatelic freak worth at least one million dollars. It is the prize possession of Ollie Weston, a wheelchair-bound Boston banker, and it is valuable enough that for its sake, several good men will die.

Publisher's Summary
The first in her Detective Emmanuel Cooper series, A Beautiful Place to Die marks the debut of a talented writer who reads Graham Greene. It is a tale of murder, passion, corruption, and the corrosive double standard that defined an apartheid nation.

Easy Listening
A great story. I got to know the characters. Was easy to listen to without being too simple. I did not guess the ending, which is always a mark of a good crime thriller for me. Narrator was very good too, with different acents. I will be looking out for this new authors next book!

Stunning first book
If Malla Nunn can produce more books of this standard, I will be one of he most avid fans.
Humphrey Bower does a great job reading this story set in small-town rural South Africa. I felt I could understand some of the problems people on all sides of the racial divide must have encountered during apartheid. Many of the characters in the story have been damaged by events in their recent past; the election of the National Party Government and their draconian racial segregation laws threaten more damage and division.
I want to hear more of D.S. Cooper but it's just a shame that Constable Shabalala (?) won't be included.

Loved it.. narrator did a great job with the accents.. true to form Humphrey. The author picked up the true way the climate of South Africa was in the 1950's. Highly recommended this book.

Good read
Interesting storyline! narrated well. This will encourage me to try another of his books. Similar in style to Wilbur Smith.
