Publisher's summary

There is no bigger bastard than a man who thinks he's a hero.

Thessa is a young noblewoman who has an unfortunate run-in with a werewolf on her engagement night. Lokenn is a fugitive necromancer, out to restore the reputation of his maligned art. Corlis is an innkeeper with a dying aunt and rapidly mounting debts.

In a string of bad luck and worse decisions, the three of them land neck-deep in an undercover investigation. Soon enough, they’re skulking in warehouses, dining with crime lords, and occasionally bleeding in alleys. The powers that be give them three days to find answers, but the real question is whether they can put up with each other that long.

Wow! Better then I expected.

I saw this book advertised by Youtuber Jill Bearup. And though I like Jill and her taste and reviews of various media projects, I was sceptical. However, it is worth money spent on credits. The story has a bit of difficulty with the introduction to the main character, but when you get past that ( and the introduction to a new world that goes with it) the story is very enjoyable. I recommend this.

One of my new favorites!

I saw this advertised by one of my favorite YouTubers and decided to give it a try. To my surprise I absolutely fell in love. The characters are all wonderfully flawed yet achingly sympathetic. The world is fun and interesting, and I love a good mystery. My only issue is that I can't find any trace of the book on social media so I can't find anyone to talk about it with!

Enjoyable new series

I really liked the multiple different characters' perspectives. They are not just stereotypes.

I was a little annoyed by the narrator either mispronouncing words or, more commonly, pronouncing the same word or name differently in different places.

Starts a bit disjointed

The story starts a bit disjointed from the different perspectives, especially as there's no time reference. It progressively, in my opinion, gets better and by the end you want the next installment. I was very disappointed to find out that the next one go out in print is not yet available on audible. This is a really good first book most people's first books aren't of this quality. I'm looking forward to seeing what this author produces in the future.
