Publisher's summary

What if everything you knew came to an end in the blink of an eye?

Samantha finds herself stranded 75 miles away from home after an EMP decimates all critical infrastructure and cripples the power grid.

With the help of old family friends, she arms herself with a revolver and a pack full of supplies and then strikes out to hike home. Seeking a direct and safe route, she chooses to cross the Black Hills Forest, but quickly discovers it’s neither.

With society collapsing further into chaos and anarchy by the hour, she comes face-to-face with the hardest reality that once-good people will resort to evil deeds when desperate and with no one to police them.

75 Miles is a story of survival, heroism, and the kindness of strangers when tragedy strikes.

Fantastic well-paced PA/EMP fiction!

I’ve read most PA fiction out there and listen to a book a day, sometimes more. What I’m saying is that I read a lot. However I don’t post reviews as often as I should. That changes with this book.

The author has a knack for keeping the pace consistent with no filler just for filler sake! It was intriguing and exciting and just so damn good!!

I can’t wait for more!! The narrator did a fantastic job as well. Keep up the collaboration!

Post apocalyptic fiction for YA

This was a great YA post apocalyptic fiction book. While there is action and violence it’s done in a way that’s appropriate for young adults. As an adult, I found the story entertaining and the characters likeable (or not depending upon who they were). Great storyline and narrator. This was my first time listening to the narrator and I found she does a fantastic job with tempo as well as characters. I’d recommend!

Fun YA book with great narration

Not really for adults but great YA novel. Narrator did an amazing job and really brought the character to life and her struggles throughout the book. Definitely felt the emotion.

Some political stuff in the book I didn't agree with but otherwise it was overall pretty good and would recommend for YA audience.

Should be aimed at tween and teen readers/listener

The premise was good - a young lady having to survive in her own. But unfortunately, it reads more like a teen romance. The protagonist was shallow and tiresome, always talking about cute boys and how irritated she was. The dialogue didn't seem quite real. Worst was the narrator- everything seemed like question, even the statements.

Narration and content bias

Honestly, the narrator’s tone and lack of vocal pitch changes is almost unbearable. Her cadence and lack luster reading almost made me quit halfway through. I’m glad it was a short listen. Additionally, the clear political bias of the novel is unvarnished and unwelcome to my sensibilities. I get that I’m listening to a prepper’s apocalypse scenario, so that tends to have a very anti government tilt. But even so, the disparaging characterizations of a boyfriend who gets emotional, or a guy with a man bun, or reference to a tree hugger and Bernie Sanders left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this read.
