5 Voices is the code for unlocking your capacity to have honest conversations and build deeper, more authentic relationships with your teams, your families, and your friends. In order to lead others effectively, we need a true understanding of ourselves, our natural tendencies, and patterns of behavior. In learning what your leadership voice sounds like to others, you will discover what it feels like to be on the other side of your personality as well as how to hear and value others' voices, namely the Pioneer, the Connector, the Creative, the Guardian, and the Nurturer. Once you understand your own leadership voice, you'll discover how best to communicate with each of the other voices, which will transform your communication at every level of relationship, both personal and professional.

In mastering the 5 voices of leadership, you will increase your emotional intelligence, allowing you to gain a competitive advantage as a leader. You will also be equipped with a simple, easy to remember vocabulary that, when shared, has a track record for decreasing the drama, misunderstanding and miscommunication in all spheres of influence.

Are you focused on relationships, values, and people? Or are you oriented more toward tradition, money, and resources? Do you know how others hear your voice? Do you appreciate the contributions of others on your team? This book will help you identify your natural leadership style and give you a framework for leveraging your strengths.

Needs more info.

the information in this book seems very introductory and seems like there could have been more chapters and it needed to go deeper. I would like to understand more how the primary and secondary voices can complement each other in an individual, for example, if I am a nurturer primarily and secondarily a creative, those two voices seem to be somewhat on opposite ends of the spectrum. One is in the present, the other in the future and does this create inner Conflict for me? How do I blend the to effectively? I like the premise behind the work but it needs more information.

Good for communication strategies

Built on the backbone of Meyers Briggs and others, this gives a way to think about personality types that can help communication in teams.
(Why most of the metaphors they use are war and weapon related, I do not know, but I did not connect with)

Great book, and now to work of implementing it.

This was eye-opening and I will definitely be working to implement what I have learned so I can understand how others hear me and conversely how I hear others.

Another Pseudo-Science Personality Quiz

I was once having a conversation with someone trying to sell me on a career advancement service. They started by admonishing pyramid schemes (now multi-level marketing models or "MLMs") like Herbalife and Mary Kay. Guess what? They were selling me a pyramid scheme.

That's how I felt with the author of this book dismissed the value of personality quizzes like Myers-Briggs in the opening chapter before immediately launching into a detailed description of their own such made-up assessment. Total head-scratcher.

Props to the performer, though. Great inflection and very easy to understand.
