Lyonesse: a world formed by magic, where a dark power struggle is underway between an ancient sorceress with her shadow army and the human subjects of Lyonesse's power-mad wizard. The only spark of hope is a prophecy that tells of a Defender who will one day come and set things to right.

Young Meb doesn't think she's obligated to be the prophesied Defender of Lyonesse, but she is adept at the universe-folding skill of Planomancy and has been trained by a world-walking troubleshooter of the multiverse, the great Dragon Fionn himself - a dragon who is desperately searching the universes for his lost Meb, whom he's come to love.

As the legions of Shadow Hall gather and with the Dragon Fionn fast on the way, magical battle is joined, and the destiny of universes hangs upon the courage in one young woman's heart.

I have to admit, I was often confused listening to the first book and by the end, thought it was good enough to listen to it a second time to pick up what I missed the firs time. The different races, magic, and worlds can be confusing. But the relationship between Finn (the black dragon) and Scrap (human mage) is special and the introduction of Delius (puppy sheep dog) who becomes an important part of the story is very well crafted. John Keating does a great job reading the story, which has very funny moments in it. The second book primarily deals with Finn and Delius searching for Scrap and their adventures and Scrap in a different land dealing with a hostile kingdom. There are some very humorous moments in the story. It is extremely well done. It ends well and whether the story continues or not, the reader will enjoy the satisfying conclusion. Most highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyable
