All Doctor Dire wants to do is save the world.

But those pesky heroes keep getting in the way, and it's all she can do to give them a good fight without killing them. Supervillainy is such an underappreciated job these days....

A short intro for this story that gives me an excellent view into the world and leaves me wanting more. I will definitely be starting this series in earnest!

A good taste

Glad I bought this out of curiosity. A fun short story. Interesting MC. Plan to check out series.

cute

Slightly uneven compared to the rest of the books. A number of details don’t quite line up with how DIRE is portrayed in the main story. Among others, she struggles much more against the heroes compared to her normal power level - despite this seeming to be set after Book Six. Still, any DIRE story is a happy addition to the canon.

Worthy for a completionist fan of the series

I listened to this audio book on a whim since I like some of the authors other books. I was happy to find a good funny listen. Love the perspective of the villain who is actually a good person. I really recommend it. Now I am off to listen to the next in the series :)

Nice listen

The author is making this story use real world constructs like machinery and circuits instead of just "it's magic". Yet when main character has 25% circuitry failure, her mech suit is still pretty much 100% functional, the only difference is things can take longer / splurt a bit. It's more like a computer game character that continues to be just fine until the life bar goes to 0 and then the fully functioning person becomes dead.

Suspension of disbelief difficult
