Publisher's Summary

With San Francisco under siege and everyone a suspect, the Women's Murder Club must risk their lives to save the city - and each other.

With a beautiful baby daughter and a devoted husband, Detective Lindsay Boxer can safely say that her life has never been better. In fact (for a change), things seem to be going well for all the members of the Women's Murder Club as they gather to celebrate San Francisco Medical Examiner Claire Washburn's birthday. But the party is cut short when Lindsay is called to a gruesome crime scene, where a woman has been murdered in broad daylight.

As Lindsay investigates, shocking video footage of another crime surfaces. A video so horrific it shakes the city to its core. Their faces obscured by masks, the cold blooded criminals on the tape could be anyone - and now all of Lindsay's coworkers are suspects. As a rash of violence sweeps through San Francisco, and public fear and anger grow, Lindsay and her friends must risk their lives in the name of justice - before it's too late.

With shocking twists and riveting suspense, 14th Deadly Sin proves yet again that when it comes to suspense fiction, in the words of Jeffrey Deaver: "Nobody does it better" than James Patterson.

Critic Reviews

"Patterson and Paetro are at their best here, weaving a number of plots together to create a novel that dips and flows across genre lines.... A series that shows no signs of fatigue or flagging." (BookReporter.com)
"I can't believe how good Patterson is, whether he's doing a Washington police yarn or traveling a different road with a female narrator. He is always on the mark. I have never begun a Patterson book and been able to put it down." (Larry King, USA Today)

It just ends......disappointing

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story was weak and the performance was annoying. The voice was just too cutesy.

What could James Patterson and Maxine Paetro have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This book ending was an insult. Nothing was wrapped up. I mean it just ended and then there was a teaser for another book instead of a decent ending.

How could the performance have been better?

The woman's voice was too cute and the added audio track was annoying.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment and the feeling that I was "tricked" by the ending.

Any additional comments?

They should warn us so we don't use a credit!!

VERY WORTHY 5-STARS!!!

Every now and again I have to step away from my romance obsession and get the stuffing scared out of me with a James Patterson suspense thriller! I LOVE the Women's Murder Club series, and this 14th edition hits it out of the park! There's always several things going on in these books and each sub-plot is riveting. Detective Boxer and her gal pals once again find themselves embroiled in the mayhem of the underbelly of society, all while trying to maintain love lives, children, and their sense of self. These characters are so well developed, it's tough not to be invested in every one of them. If you've just discovered James Patterson, it's well worth every credit to start from the beginning of this series and work your way through. Great narration and storyline, a winner all the way around!

More Claptrap from James

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only if they are young and inexperienced readers. Its a fast paced and very predictable tale written in the voice of a cop.

Has 14th Deadly Sin turned you off from other books in this genre?

This is the second time I swear I will not buy another book by this guy.

Do you think 14th Deadly Sin needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It needs to be finished properly, it is a lazy end and a ploy to continue an unimaginative series.

Any additional comments?

Patterson's publishers most likely need to share the blame -- I am sure they are pressuring him to produce more and more thereby forcing him to cut quality and deliver this claptrap. With so many good mysteries out there, I see no reason to support this publisher or writer any longer .

Love this series! Love the authors! Love the narrator! (Although Carolyn McCormack was great too!) What a cliffhanger ending! When's 15 coming?!!!

Book without an ending

What would have made 14th Deadly Sin better?

Typical James Patterson book, which is fine. Until the non-ending. This is not a spoiler because the end of the book is a "cliff-hanger" for the next in the series. If I'm buying a book to be a pleasant listen, I expect a book that resolves at the end. I don't care if it's a happy ending or a sad ending -- but I don't want a cliff-hanger with no ending until the next in the series

No ending you have to buy next book.

another book by James that you have to buy the next book to find out who the killer is. I like a book that has ending but James likes you spending more money on him.
The woman's murder club is hit n miss and this is a miss. This book is simple in all areas. I find the writing dull and high schoolish plots. I miss the old JP.

I feel cheated!

This book is not done. Left with a "to be continued". And A LOT of it is repeated from previous book. I wondered how Patterson could have so many books written so quickly. This is how he does it.

Women's Murder Club Getting Tired

I've listened/read this entire series, a love January LaVoy. However, maybe it's a combination of writing and performance but the exchanges:/dialogue between Lindsay and her husband are so cheesy and fluffy sounding. It's almost cringeworthy! I also think the story line in this one was a bit predictable.
