"In charismatic fashion, Kreinik brings alive the world of Talamh and Breen Siobhan Kelly's journey." - AudioFile Magazine

A new epic of love and war among gods and humans, from Nora Roberts—the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Awakening.

The world of magick and the world of man have long been estranged from one another. But some can walk between the two—including Breen Siobhan Kelly. She has just returned to Talamh, with her friend, Marco, who’s dazzled and disoriented by this realm—a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no WiFi, to his chagrin). In Talamh, Breen is not the ordinary young schoolteacher he knew her as. Here she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity. Marco is welcomed kindly by her people—and by Keegan, leader of the Fey. Keegan has trained Breen as a warrior, and his yearning for her has grown along with his admiration of her strength and skills.

But one member of Breen’s bloodline is not there to embrace her. Her grandfather, the outcast god Odran, plots to destroy Talamh—and now all must unite to defeat his dark forces. There will be losses and sorrows, betrayal and bloodshed. But through it, Breen Siobhan Kelly will take the next step on the journey to becoming all that she was born to be.

Wonderful

Ever read a story and became so engrossed in it till you almost lived and breathed it in? Aw yes that would be this book/series. So mystical , exciting and enchanting. This was a book I hated to see end. The narrator truly brings the wonder of the characters to life, outstanding job. If you enjoy mystical wonderment, magical feats and reading a book that actual places you there at their feet wandering through the Forrest, soaring through the sky on dragons, spells casting and charm then you have found it here within the chapters. A book you won't want to put down wondering what's around the next corner and then desiring much more on the end. Loved it and hopeful it will carry on with future reads to come. This you will enjoy immensely.

Remarkable

The story picked up right where the first book left off with a good summary of the events that had happened prior. Arguably it was enough to skip reading the first book altogether.

The story took a long time to get anywhere with a lot of repetitive back and forth for the main character on whether the events unfolding were her fault or not. This character almost always needed constant reassurance from the supporting characters in reaffirmation of her as a person. This theme would, in my opinion be better served a little less liberally.

The absolute most frustrating aspect of this series continues to be the portrayal of Marco. He is the most generic black, gay best friend whose purpose is just to fawn and illuminate the main character.
The number of times he uttered "Girl!" made me want to vomit. In this addition to the series he finds himself a beau which conveniently they are just definitely in love within a week of meeting and will live happily ever after! Meanwhile he has completely uprooted his life without any warning to any other persons in his regular life to go on a gallavant to other worlds without any shown care to this characters particular needs.

The general theme of using lgtbqia+ as these two-dimensional doting stereotypically flamboyant gay characters as perfectly supportive subjects is prevalent here. It is a really poor showing in my opinion of a group of people who could be far better represented with more three-dimensional backgrounds. To be always in complete support without ever offering resistance to the woes of the main character is just poor story-building.
Are we really expected to believe that a girl who was down-trodden and financially poor to inherit convenient wealth and just be able to take off and take along with her Marco without there being any consequences with their relationship with Sally and Derek? It's unrealistic.

The depiction of the Fey world was, however developed well and as it builds we could benefit from more excitement in the future.

I'd just really appreciate to see some personal character growth from more than just the main character and her dog.

Hoped this book would get away from stereotyping

I love this book and the narrator was great. It was like you were there with them ready to ride a dragon. I can’t wait for her next book to come out. I never want the story to end.
