After the recent near-destruction of the USS Hamilton, Captain Galvin Quintos has been lying low, getting the USS Jefferson ready for service.

In the midst of refurbishing the vessel, he gets a call for help from his former XO, new starship captain Gail Pristy. The Varapin have lured the Ninth Fleet into a devious trap, and it’s not long before Quintos has his orders to hurry to the rescue. But the Varapin have a colossal new warship - one that puts anything the US Space-Navy has to shame. Even after Quintos assembles a crew, he’ll still need to pull a few rabbits, along with a few Symbio Poths, out of a hat to have any chance of surviving the coming battle. And Quintos’ one last hope - reuniting with a past enemy - may prove as dangerous as fighting the Varapin themselves.

I hope that there will be a few more coming in this series. I think Hardy might be my all time favorite Sci-Fi character. But I love the universe that Mark has created and Captain Quintos. He's designed some very interesting foes for the crew and the book flows very well.

Overall one of my favorite Series and definitely my favorite of Marks various series that he's written.

Another Great Book in the series.

Just like the first 2 books, I could not stop listening this book! Mark’s way of writing makes you feel as if you were right there with the crew!

Can’t stop listening!

I love that this author has imbraced the insanity that the space fantasy gere allows.
Anything can happen at any time.

Crazier and crazier

Why do I say that? the author is too GD WORDY While I very much enjoyed the story line of this and the other books in the series I just don't have the time to give to IT. With the audio book I can listen to the story while driving or doing other things.

Better than the book.

This book includes fun, new angles and has another good lead in to the next book. Keeps the lackluster non flashy endings of the previous books. The enemy dropped like flies and we could have used a bit more losses for the good guys.

Another great reading

I'm ones of the lucky people who can listen to audible 2 - 6 hours per day. I certainly enjoyed the series and hoping for another book or two to come out this series. The dialogue, explanations of the fight scenes hand to hand combat is so visual in the mind. The performer has done such a great job with all of the voices, male, female and other for alien characters too.

Definitely enjoyed the character's and storyline

Entertaining to say the least. Mark Wayne McGinnis writes a saga that will pull you in and keep you anxious for the next book.
