“One of the smartest, sharpest, and funniest books I’ve read in years... Some books are meant to be devoured—this one does the devouring.”—Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of People We Meet on Vacation

It’s a club like no other. Only the most important women receive an invitation. But one daring young reporter is about to infiltrate this female-run secret society, whose bewitching members are caught up in a dark and treacherous business. From the author of Happy and You Know It.

For years, rumors have swirled about an exclusive, women-only social club where the elite tastemakers of NYC meet. People in the know whisper all sorts of claims: Membership dues cost $1,000 a month. Last time Rihanna was in town, she stopped by and got her aura read. The women even handpicked the city's first female mayor. But no one knows for sure.

That is, until journalist Jillian Beckley decides she's going to break into the club. With her career in freefall, Jillian needs a juicy scoop, and she has a personal interest in bringing these women down. But the deeper she gets into this new world—where billionaire "girlbosses" mingle with occult-obsessed Bohemians—the more Jillian learns that bad things happen to those who dare to question the club's motives or giggle at its outlandish rituals.

The select group of women who populate the club may be far more powerful than she ever imagined.

And far more dangerous too.

This book kept me wondering how far the protagonist was going to go, and what she was going to find out if she made it into the inner sanctum of a secret society for women. Very enjoyable read, particularly if you like strong women.

Mysterious, surprising, and ultimately uplifting

I don’t even really know how to describe my feelings for this book. It was…fine? Not horrible but not good or engaging.
Someone said there would be a big shocking twist and I literally have no idea what part of the book they would have been referring to.
Im also not convinced the main character liked women. Got a very “not like other girls” middle school vibe.
The author read the book very nicely though which I appreciated.

Kept waiting for the twist?

This is a great listen that keeps you coming back until the end! Hankin weaves the perfect blend of mystery, clever observation, and whip-smart turn of phrase to make this one of the most fun reads/listens in a long time.

Page turner! So much fun

I loved the premise of this book; however, it fell a little short for me. A women's secret society is a great start, but the secrets they were hiding were a bit cliche for my taste. I was really hoping to have been more enchanted by the theme but in a book that's meant to encourage girl power, the stereotypical viewpoint of the women irked me. And the end didn't work for me at all, it was just so rushed and unrealistic. The performance was well done and in was entertained but it just wasn't as interesting or fresh as I had hoped. ⭐⭐⭐✨

The narrator sounded like Vanessa Hudgens which was nice. Haha! Overall, it did keep me guessing but I was kind of bored with the story. I did continue to read it, it really kept my attention after their retreat in the woods. I loved Margo and ralf.

Cute in the end
